I personally would rather want Nolan to recreate that exact picture.

I just felt Nicholson nailed everything I wanted to see in The Joker. I wasn't serious before, I don't want a carbon copy either. I really meant, I don't want to see "kills 10,000 during the movie and finds it funny without cracking a single joke" like alot of forum members want to see. My issue is more with the writing, I just hope he's similar to the way he was wrote in 1989. I think Health will do a superb job with whatever he's given.
Ahh, I see.

Well, I don't want a joke-less, scarred-smile, typical psycho like so many want. I think some of the people on these board want a character who bears no resemblance to any comic-book portrayal of the Joker to date. Thankfully, they're not in charage. Myself, I want the Joker of THE DARK KNIGHT to take from the comics, whether it resembles BATMAN #1 or THE KILLING JOKE or ARKHAM ASYLUM or what have you. But none of those Jokers were Jack Nicholson's.

I don't think a Joker that's written like Jack's would work in the world BEGINS established. Jack's Joker was written with a very audience-pleasing sense about him. He's a very funny character, and he's given a lot of really bold and cartoony things to do. It works, and highly resembles the Joker of the 70s and early 80s, but doesn't utilize the character's dark beginnings or the darker turn the character took on from the 80s.

I want to see THE DARK KNIGHT take the character in those places - the places where the Joker is actually a somewhat sadistic character, one who makes us laugh, but makes us laugh uneasily. Someone who has made his goal to accentuate the lack of sense in the world and laughs at the most horrible things.

When I saw BATMAN 1989, I wanted the Joker to keep going. I loved the guy. In many scenes, I was rooting for him. In THE DARK KNIGHT, I want to be rooting against the Joker. I want to have that "love to hate" relationship with the Joker.

Thankfully, Nolan and co. have already cited as BATMAN NO. 1 as their key influence for the Joker in THE DARK KNIGHT, and that Joker is one I've been waiting to see for a long time. It's going to be a different Joker than a lot of people are used to, but the Joker seen as a sinister murderer is going to be a delight for me.

Given the writers, director, the actor, and the previous film, I think it's a safe bet that the Joker will be completely new, and probably not so tongue-in-cheek.

*shrugs*

I for once would find too coincidentally that 15 years later with a new franchise, new script, new director and new actors, they would be doing the exact same thing.

Oh, of course. I have no fears in that department.

I was merely musing on how much THE DARK KNIGHT Joker can resemble the Nicholson Joker and what I would like to see brought to the table.

Well I'm glad that Nicholson Joker will NOT be coming back. That's pretty much been established.

Also do we need any more posts explaining why Joker should not have a carved smile?

Smartarse

I misunderstood Agentsands post so I was emphasising that Nicholson's Joker is not coming back. That is all, comedian :cwink:

I'll bet money someone has had a nightmare about that. You're belittling their pain! :cmad: :p

There are noobs out there. Noobs who don't bother to read or research, who construct elaborate fanfictions to highlight their preversions of timeless characters, who whine and gripe about everything. They must be stopped. It is our reponsiblity to go out into this horde of ignorance and hunt them to down to extiction.

Posts are the weapon. Noobs are the enemy.

maybe Joker will just wear a long black leather jacket, with black pants and black shirt.

He turned a hot, blonde psychiatrist into his love puppy. Joker fits the bill.

I hope not. I'm all for a different look than what we're used to, but I hope it's something with flair to it. That's just who he is. All black attire just isn't really... Joker-ish.

i actually liked whatever interview where it said they wanted him to dress like tyler durden from fight club. it just makes sense to me, since tyler never looked like he cared what he looked like, but he still looked kind of hip in a dirty way, and i think that'd work for the joker.

^ ^ ^
no. the joker should dress like a gentleman. everything in joker's appearance should contradict his personality.
