Daredevil Jon Bernthal IS Frank Castle / The Punisher! - Part 1

Only seen 3 episodes so far but damn if they havn't nailed the character already, the morale point of view he poses, it works on so many levels and not just the obvious action beats. Cant wait to find out what they do with the character for the rest of the season but its a perfect casting.

they truly have captured the essence of FRANK

Damn, just watched episode 4, his speech at the end is better than any origin story could probably ever do justice to the character. Dont need to see his family getting killed to understand why he becomes what he is, just superbly delivered by Berthnal too.

When does he wear the skull?

Did the same stupid thing as the first season did with the DD costume, last half of last episode. But, he could be wearing it from the get go, it's pretty much a armored vest with a skull painted on it.

Would you guys please leave spoilers in the spoiler threads? Goddammit.

A character wearing their proper costume isn't a spoiler. Stop that nonsense.

Bernthal needs his own series after this. Just wiped his ass with every previous attempt to adapt this character. That scene in Episode 9. Holy hell.

I'm expecting Marvel/ Netflix to wait till at least Monday to greenlight that Punisher series. I like the Electra stuff, but the Punisher was the stand out.

They better green light a Punisher show very soon!

Yeah, Bernthal got it down though. I really do want to see him interact with some of the MCU just to see the juxtaposition.

We didn't see enough Punisher (skull and all) to satisfy anything. He needs his own show. There is no reason why they couldn't. They are off to a good start considering the DD viewers seem to love Bernthal.

Really hope he gets his own show. Loved him.

I have no doubt that's where we are headed with all this. I'm betting SDCC will bring the announcement.

When it shows up is. Might've liked that to be a surprise. But whatever.

Did you have a "surprise" with Electra having a "action outfit" from the get go? No. So having Frank wear the vest when he is Punishing through this season would not be any kind of surprise. He's the Punisher, he is supposed to have a Deaths Head on his chest to target fire. That's his thing. Sorry again that producers thought they didn't need to show it till the very end, but getting really tired of Marvel tv treating proper character costumes like this.

All that said, look how good Matt looked wearing a costume start to finish.

You do realise this is the story of how he becomes the punisher, just as season 1 was the story of how mat becomes daredevil. If you put them in their costumes from the start then you are not showing their story arc. The putting on the costume is the point where they have fully accepted who they are and what they are going to do. Frank was getting revenge for his family, but he realised that the war is not over and he fully accepts his role and dons the punisher skull.

It's not like that's the end. They will have plenty of time wearing their costumes.

He was being called the Punisher almost immediately, was wearing body armor and was stocked up immediately, he was the Punisher from the time we seen him. Hell, he called himself the Punisher. Where 80% of the Punisher was there, all that was missing was the skull. I don't know why they have done this twice now, but it isn't interesting or fun as a comic fan to see the character running around in most of these series as the character without the costume, then being presented a costume at the end as some sort of fan service. For source material driven by image, it's hard to wrap my brain around this shows logic when it comes to costuming people.

I kinda agree. I don't think he should have gotten the skull from the get go, but from the moment
Kingpin released him from Prison he should have decided to have the skull
I feel that'd be better, it'd still follow the journey to becoming the full on Punisher and gives it to him a fair bit earlier.

We'll have plenty of time for the skull in the inevitable spinoff show

Which is coming or else I'm going to be a sad boy

If there isn't a solo Punisher series, then I'm sure Frank will be brought back for season 3.

I enjoyed him in the show but I don't think I'd watch a series about him. He may be a good actor and nice on the eyes... but I just find it hard to relate with him like I do with all the other characters in the show. [BLACKOUT]Though it seems like a spinoff series is going to happen as he didn't have any sort of flashback episode. Seems like they are saving that for a series.[/BLACKOUT]

I think it's better suited on season 3 than his own show. We know so much about him already that it would be redundant in his own show.

A TV series would probably at least address what he did overseas that they wouldn't reveal here.
