Daredevil Jon Bernthal IS Frank Castle / The Punisher! - Part 1

Plus there's other major DD stuff that I'd like to see in a potential S3. Let Frank have his own show. I still think that putting Punisher into a Captain America film as a compare/contrast to Steve Rogers could be really interesting potentially.

He was being called the Punisher almost immediately, was wearing body armor and was stocked up immediately, he was the Punisher from the time we seen him. Hell, he called himself the Punisher. Where 80% of the Punisher was there, all that was missing was the skull. I don't know why they have done this twice now, but it isn't interesting or fun as a comic fan to see the character running around in most of these series as the character without the costume, then being presented a costume at the end as some sort of fan service. For source material driven by image, it's hard to wrap my brain around this shows logic when it comes to costuming people.

How is it "most of these series"? It's the first series he's been in. He might be in 6 or 7 more. Plenty of time to wear the skull. The mcu is not going to reboot for at least another 10 years probably longer. His origin story has now been told. We know who he is and how he got to wear the skull. It's done he can wear as many skulls he wants for the next 20 years.

I think he should get a show, and it should have a voice over which allows the viewer understand his psyche. Preferably in some war journal fashion that allows him to be cold and shut off from the world yet you still understand his point of view.

Typical, expected to see at least one person make this post :whatever:

I hope we get a Punisher TV series with lots of Skull action to satiate us all.

I bet in 2017 The Punisher will take DD's seasonal tv premiere date; March/April. Cuz I'm betting DD season 3 won't come until 2018.

I'm guessing Defenders happens before DD season 3

No. It's probably going to be:

September 2016 - Luke Cage
March/April 2017 - Iron Fist
September-November 2017 - The Defenders

Yeah, sucks when you give a damn about those 40 year old details.

He was frank castle until he had his revenge for his family, had burnt down his house and cut ties to his former life. That is when he truly becomes the punisher and dons the skull. That is his story arc for the season.

You were just impatient to see him wear the skull. But guess what he did and will do from now on. If you didn't like his story then fair enough.

So. [BLACKOUT]Micro[/BLACKOUT]. Big things are on the horizon for Bernthal's Punisher methinks.

I like the show. I like the story for the most part. It's the presentation that bugs the hell out of me. The fear of "looking silly" or that nonsense. Not a fan of it. Not 12 and a half hours of seeing that play out, all over again.

I need 13 1-hour episodes of Punisher in my life. Like I would say take a year off for Daredevil and replace him with a Punisher series. Then bring back Daredevil with a bang.

But I repeat. I need me 13 hours of Punisher.

I'd love The Punisher to get a show. Just do Max storylines for the first 5 seasons. Barracuda!!! Widowmaker! Up is Down, Black is White!!!

There was something off with the characterization. Or the casting. I love bernthal as an actor, but just thought it wAs average to good not great. Thought the voice was off, sort of small in build, and way too sympathetic.only scene I truly liked was his outburst in court. Way too much getting in his head. I was hoping to truly show more of the monster less the human. He was all hero outside of hooking guys in a freezer and not so much anti hero.

I wouldn't be surprised if Iron Fist comes out even sooner. They're supposedly starting to film like next month aren't they?

Question since I am not well versed with Punisher comics...

[BLACKOUT]I did a quick search. This Micro is Microchip the weapons supplier for Frank?[/BLACKOUT]

Who has favorite Punisher moments? Mine has to be the pawnshop bit in episode 2. Such a small bit of business but flawless Punisher. So good.

Eh a little too unrealistic. W
I don't buy the pawn shop guy staying in business longer than a day if he's just yelling to customers he has that sort of filth. Too dumb.

This is a world where guys run around the rooftops dressed as devils. Giant green monsters throw cars around and aircraft carriers can fly. But yes a pawnshop guy selling kiddie porn is unrealistic.

Yeah, because a pawnbroker trying to sell all of his wares to a guy trying to buy illegal police scanners and shotguns is unrealistic.

:sly: Really?

Lol. Besides frank doesnt turn on him just because he sells pornography but its more the thing that pushes him to act. Frank comes to this guy because he knows he probably sells what he needs and you can see its taking all he has not to jump the guy. i thought it was pretty obvious

I doubt that. If Frank knew he would have done something already. Why not? If you doing something that sick you're not running your mouth. Especially for 100 bucks. Way too cheesy for my liking.

The best moment was the direct quoting from the Garth Ennis DD/Punisher fight:
"If you don't shoot you've got a death on your conscience. A death you could have prevented. If you do shoot, you're a killer."

"What kind of a choice is that?!"

"The one I make very time I pull the trigger."

SO perfect.

Also loved the prison fight scene (obviously) and the blood pooling up into the skull motif at the end.

Another favourite was just after he gave Karen "relationship advice" in the diner. I felt like that scene was when he really became The Punisher; he had one last human moment with Karen, and after that he pushed her away and fully embraced the darkness (and took it out on the hitman's face in brutal style). He didn't have the skull yet, but that for me was the moment when Frank Castle died and The Punisher completely took over.

Cheers.
