Sorry but I just had to say it. I'm really very impressed with how he's handling the entire Iron Man production thus far. I don't remember the last time a director actually asked the fans of a comic book what THEY wanted to see in the film. Revolutionary.

Imagine how much better Bryan Singer's Superman Returns would have been if he had asked the Fans what they would like to see in the film instead of just forcing his idea of Superman on the world.

All that said his vision of the story and the suit exactly what I wanted from an Iron Man film. Even though their are some less than spectacular comic adaptations running around I'm happy to be living in the golden age of Comic Book films. The little kid in me is eustatic that he's going to see Ol'Shell head up on the Silver Screen in all his technological glory. We might actually get another superhero franchise up to par with Spiderman.

IRON MAN, SUIT UP MAY 2, 2008 :supes:

Here's hoping Singer was in the audience taking notes on how to do a movie. I'm with you on this one.

I have to agree, I wasn't completely sold on him when he was hired, I did feel he was a major step up from Nick Cassavetes, but ever since he's taken over, my confidence in him has grown by leaps and bounds, I like the vision he has, I'm very happy with the Villian he selected, I know we have almost 2 years to wait, but I'm really excited.

Glad to see at least some people are excited about Jon's involvement in this project. I'm not a comic reader but I know that IM is in very good hands. Jon is a really good writer himself and I really don't think he's going to let the script get by being subpar. Not to mention his directing ability seems to be improving with each movie. I think in the end most people will be happy with the finished product with Jon at the helm.

Even though i'm not a comics person I am very excited about this project. It certainly has potential to be huge for Jon's career. =)

I hope Favreau doesnt make it too comic book silly. The franchise has potential to grit it up royally, and since im partial to that, naturally id vouch for that path. Personally it could come off as trying too hard to camp a great plot up if he goes the comics route too much. So which way will the pendulum swing....?

^It's a fine line he and his writers have got to walk. We don't want a hyper-realistic movie like Tom Clancy's "Jack Ryan" movies(this is a comic book fantasy after all) but we don't want it anywhere near as silly as so many other comic book movies. Batman Begins did a good job at walking that line and I'm glad that Fav said he's using that movie as inspiration for how to get the tone of the film right.

You picked the only 3 that I've seen as well. I loved those movies. I can't comment on Appleseed, The Golem, or Ghost in the shell since I haven't ever seen or heard about them.

Appleseed and Ghost in the Shell aren't too bad either.

I for one hope that more directors take a cue from Favreau. I think he's handled doing a comic book movie far better than anyone else has to date. Hopefully as more and more of this comes out it will only be good news.
