Skeleton Crew Jon Watts' Star Wars: Skeleton Crew

Ah that's too bad. The show is full of heart and it's probably the best Star Wars content we've had in the Disney era outside Andor. It's going to be hard to get a second season now.

This may be a thing were they gamble on it being well received. Because a lot of streaming can increase after good wom.

There's simply too many live action Star Wars shows for all of them to be doing more than okay. Its the same problem with the MCU shows. The general public won't able to keep up with every single show. I also think for ips like Marvel and Star Wars - tv shows are seen as the less desirable platform, compare to movies that are released in the cinemas first.

Yes, I’m glad Star Wars is headed back to the big screen in 2026 where it belongs.

I do think the amount of TV shows in so short a time has lessened the specialness of the series. It becomes, with all due respect, Star Trek where it gets diluted.

How so? Andor is ending. Mando is going to theaters. Acolyte is cancelled. That leaves Ahsoka and Skeleton Crew. I don't think 2 live action shows is that much.

Oh I'm sure Crew will join Alcolyte and Ahsoka will be the last one standing. :o

Yeah, the seemingly low viewership numbers make it pretty unlikely we'll see a second season, but the positive reception means we'll probably get to see these characters elsewhere. The New Republic era is still the part of Star Wars with the most upcoming projects. Lots of chances for anyone to appear again.

Honestly, a second opportunity on streaming tends to happen with "not so expensive" shows. Unfortunately, Star Wars live action shows are pretty expensive.

I should also say that Skeleton Crew could be well received, but I don't feel there is a lot of hype for the show.

I finished this up and really enjoyed it. KB & Neel are the MVPs.

In the latest issue of Empire Magazine, Gilroy shared his thoughts on Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, the Amblin-esque adventure series that debuted to record-low viewership for a live-action Star Wars show. The showrunner’s comments extend beyond the new series, touching upon his own surprising distance from his work on Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and offering a brief but intriguing reaction to the creative direction of Dawn of the Jedi, an upcoming film set in the franchise’s distant past.

“I watched some of Skeleton Crew, which I thought was really, really cool,” Gilroy said. “I like how committed it is to its tone, and it seems really well done.”

A simple & sometimes entertaining low-stakes adventure. Honestly, I found it hard to stay interested throughout the show, with some exceptions like the Jod character & some world-building. The 12-year-old version of myself would’ve loved it.

Jod was easily the most interesting character, particularly the Jedi background. And Jude Law’s acting, showing the different sides of the pirate, was excellent.

If season two is green-lit, we need to know more about the planet’s background & its relationship with the rest of the galaxy.

And it would be really cool seeing the four kids return to a future project someday as grown-ups (like as cameos or maybe guest characters).

And if Disney is going to continue with the shows beyond the two you mentioned, the key to success is genre diversity and not overloading like what the MCU did (e.g. one show per year is more than enough).
