Jonah Hill Was Eyed for Secret Role.

When I saw this scene, I immediately wanted him for Penguin. Jonah could easily pull off a badass Penguin.

He don't look like that no more

He isn't that big, but he still is in a physique that works for Penguin.
This is how he looks like this year. Still a perfect look for Penguin. Also I'm sure if they pay him 10 million and the director wants him to look like how does in War Dogs, he probably would gain some pounds.

I really do feel like there is some unconscious antisemitism about preferring him as The Penguin,,,

What he probably meant was if the entire storyline was good and his characterization was much better it could've been great. Could've easily made him alot like Zuckerberg instead of the zany weirdo we got. Jesse Eisenberg could've done great in that role if they had him more like Luthor but also inspired heavily from Mark Zuckerberg, we know that he can do well in it too cause of his performance in The Social Network. Note: I would've rather had him bald throughout and have him dress more like Mark Zuckerberg than whatever his look was in BvS too.
No I understood his point but thanks for the clarification anyways.

I just found his other point more interesting because I'd never heard that claim before.

I guess he could do something close to DeVito’s Penguin, but definitely not the smoothness of Paul Williams or the faux-Ray Winstone of the Arkham games. What does The Penguin “sound” like, always? I like something along Williams’ take, refined and maybe a bit midatlantic and upper crust. Definitely not how Hill sounds.

His face? That’s gonna have to circle back to my unconscious antisemitism comment.

I didn't even recognize him as being a jewish guy until you mentioned it. He played a jewish guy in War Dogs too. I don't think anyone is antisemitic for feeling that Jonah Hill is literally the perfect casting for The Penguin. He is phenomenal actor and can reinvent the character as more grounded too, he also looks the part.

Hill "looking" like the Penguin should not be grounds alone to cast him as Cobbepot over Nygma. What other factors make him fit Penguin more beyond superficial aspects?

The fact that he's an unconventional choice for Nygma is what makes his take unpredictable. That's why Pattinson as Batman is infinitely more interesting than Hammer as Batman -- who would have been a boring, predictable take

They got to completely disregard those incarnations of The Penguin. Especially Danny Devito's version. That was horrifying and I'd rather not have him as someone who is ridiculed for his appearance. Jonah Hill voice is just fine for the role. He just needs to act more like a bad guy than the nice guy roles he usually plays.

Pattinson looks the part of Bruce Wayne and fits the cowl. He has the acting chops. I'm telling you watch War Dogs if you haven't. His portrayal in that screamed The Penguin to me. That was an a notable role with negative shades that he has nailed, if anything that was basically a realistic version of The Penguin on film. I rather see that than The Riddler, I'd want them to do something new with the Riddler too rather than the once a loser turned super villain kind of thing we've seen over and over again.

Penguin and Riddler are both iconic Batman-villains, why should it matter if someone thinks Jonah Hill is better suited for One over the other character ? He can play any one of those.

He can play both, Penguin for the first 2 months of filming, take a 2 months break to change body type, return as the riddler, nobody will notice! =P

This! And I still think he'd make a great penguin, but if he was cast as Riddler, I'm confident he'd be great as well

Any particular film of Jonah that performance-wise is close to Riddler?

I know Jonah Hill mostly by Wolf of Wall Street and I liked him there. Good screen presence. Penguin, Riddler or frankly anybody - I'd be up for it. I think he can nail a rotten bastard.

One small request, though. If he will be playing Penguin, don't give him ultra-grotesque beak like on the manip above. Keep it a bit more grounded.

He's gonna play Calendar Man, you nerds. :o
