Josh Trank confirmed to helm Shadow of the Colossus

I just want a Diablo movie, dammit. Given the popularity of the game, and the fact that it actually HAS a good story, unlike half of the crap they try to make work on film, it could be epic. But of course, it would be expensive and since it takes 10 years just to put out a Diablo game, I guess a movie would take a quarter or a century to put out.

It's about giving it to the right people and it always seems like, it's the same set of producers and fiancers who are involved with video game adaptations. That's sad.

'Hanna' Writer to Pen 'Shadow of Colossus' for Sony (Exclusive)

Seth Lochhead, the Canadian-born scribe who co-wrote the action film Hanna, has been tapped to work on Shadow of the Colossus, Sony’s adaptation of the popular PlayStation 2 video game.
Josh Trank is attached to direct the project, coming on board in May 2012 after being launched by his hit sci-fi pic Chronicle. He will oversee the writing of the script. Justin Marks wrote an early draft of the script when the project was initially set up in 2009.
The game’s story involves a young man named Wander, who, riding his trusty steed Argo, travels a world defeating 16 colossal beings in order to resurrect a girl named Mono.
Kevin Misher is producing. Misher Films’ Andy Berman and Kevin Chang are overseeing.
Lochhead has The Governess, a top secret project being produced by Michael Bay, set up at Warner Bros. and has written an adaptation of sci-fi novel The Age of Miracles for Bill Pohlad’s River Road Entertainment.
Hanna was an intriguingly off-beat 2011 action movie directed by Joe Wright and starring Saoirse Ronan as a teenager trained to be an assassin by her father, played by Eric Bana.

Hanna was a great film. I don't play video games, so I had to google this and see what it was about. Seems pretty interesting, very ambitious if followed correctly.

I really don't know how this game can work as a movie. It's something I can only think of as a game and doesn't lend itself to a cinematic narrative, even more than a lot of vidja games I can think of.

I don't know much about it, but I would say any game with a story can work as a film. You have to rework, but I don't see why it can't work.

.... I dont believe any of it until they are filming on set these days.... "confirmed" how many times have we heard that before,, that just means we hope it will come together.

‘Mama’ Helmer Tapped For Sony’s ‘Shadow Of The Colossus’

Andrés Muschietti, the Argentine filmmaker behind Universal’s 2013 supernatural hit Mama, is taking the reins on Shadow of the Colossus for Sony Pictures. He’ll direct the adaptation of the acclaimed Playstation video game bestseller and oversee a script by Hanna writer Seth Lochhead. Joining Misher Films’ Kevin Misher as producer will be Muschietti’s sister, Mama producer and co-writer Barbara Muschietti.

The protagonist of the original action-adventure game is a young man who thinks his lover has died. Desperate to bring her back, he heads into a forbidden land, and summons a demon who can wake the dead. The price for bringing back his girl: slay 16 colossi that dominate this mystical place.
The Muschiettis earned a $146 million worldwide return on the $15 million budgeted Mama, which also played with supernatural specters and earned praise for its rich visual sense. The epic fantasy world of Shadow of the Colossus became a gamer favorite thanks to its immersive story and sweeping minimalist landscapes designed by Fumito Ueda. It’s sold over 2.7 million copies worldwide.
Chronicle‘s Josh Trank was previously attached to helm the project, but the in-demand director is already directing the Fantastic Four reboot at Fox and a Star Wars project for Disney. Michael De Luca and Andrea Giannetti will oversee the project for the studio.

I don't know much about it, but I would say any game with a story can work as a film. You have to rework, but I don't see why it can't work.

Shadow of Colossus is as minimalist , story-wise , as games gets

Smart move Sony with replacing Josh Trank & Michael Fake Jordan
