This is how Dredd should look in the new film:

...very Brian Bolland-like!!

Now THAT is bad ass!

The only problem I had with the last movies suits was that they were like, lycra or spandex or something.

The material in this pic would be perfect though.

The word 'perfect' is used too much nowadays; it does my head in when people use it when they shouldnt.

Having said that, the costume above is perfectly perfect perfectionary perfection.

Lord knows mate. They supposedly had a 'meeting' about it over a week ago.

I guess 2010 is out of the picture then, so muh for 'fast track' :whatever:. Got a bad feeling this wont ever happen to be honest.

Yeah, the ABC warrior was great - there's a lot of Hammerstein in that design. And I look at the grubby, old-tech look of those corridors and I can just imagine that looking just like what a Strontium Dog movie would look like too.

Definately, got, imagine it for an ABC warrior movie!

I dislike Marshall. Dog Soliders was to low budget to have anything in it for me to enjoy. The Descent was boring and I fell alseep. And Doomsday was all the boring parts of Escape from New York and The Road Warrior put together.

Michael Bassett seems pretty cool though. I've only seen the trailer for Soloman Kane, but it looks really good.

I dont know how you didnt enjoy DS and The Descent to be honest, both are great movies in their genre's and TC was the first horror movie to scare in a LONG time.

I did enjoy Doomsday but understand why others didnt. Personally, I think he is perfect for Judge Dredd, take the action from DS and DD, mix it with the darkness and story-telling of TC, and take a bit of humour from DS also, as well as the violence from all 3, and I think that is the perfect Dredd movie right there.

I hear you. We've had too many false dawns in regards to a new Dredd movie for this not to feel all too familiar.

I'm not really crazy about any Dredd casting suggestions so far. i'm starting to think that maybe it should be done like Tintin, mocap style, so he could look exactly like he does in the comics. And Judge Death would be perfect too.
I think Conan, another hard to cast character, might benefit from this new technology too. I still prefer live action whenever possible but there are characters, usually comic books ones, that are harder to bring to the big screen with real actors imo.

Hmm, maybe.

Although I do see Judge Death as a character they could nail perfectly using traditional make-up and prosthetics.

With Doug Jones as the actor, of course. The characters that he's played thus far are perfect preparation.

Whatever gripes people have with the film, no one can say that Mega City One (and the production design in general) wasnt spot on and looked like it had came from the pages of AD, and we'll be lucky if we have the same quality and attention to detail this time around.

Fingers crossed.
I also think that Stallone looked good as Dredd WITH THE HELMET ON.

It's when he took it off is when it all went bad. IMO

I really liked that ABC Warrior robot.

"Status ?
_ War.
_ Warrr."

Agreed. But the studio mandated that Stallone's face couldnt be hidden for the entire movie for marketing purposes. Another problem was that they also had a clone of Dredd that didnt even look like him.

The solution, for me? [to anyone who'll listen].................

They shouldve had Stallone double up as both Dredd and Rico. With a few changes to the script and plot - it would have worked. The tradition of Dredd keeping his helmet on would've been kept and Stallone's face wouldve been out there in the form of Rico.

^Good idea.
But all in all I think I have more of a problem with the addition of a funny sidekick (Hello Rob Schneider), than the removing of the helmet, also an issue though.
And the absence of Judge Death, Mortis, Fire and Fear was a big problem for me too.

Not a bad ideal, I like that.

Totally agreed. I thought that back when I saw Beowulf in 3D. Picture Ron Perlman as Conan, but with the mo cap to recreate the Robert E. Howard version of Conan and we'd be sweet! Pity instead we're get another crappy Arnieesque movie.

Regarding Judge Dredd, it's yet another comic book franchise where they better include Garth Ennis somehow.

I remember losing faith in the original Dredd movie as soon as I heard that the plot of the movie centered around him not being the law. Before you break the status quo, you must fully establish a status quo.

^Agreed, we barely got to see how seriously Dredd took the law before he became a fugitive, so we just didnt feel any of his pain about the situation, they should have done this in the 2nd movie at the earliest.

Dredd needs to be unknown for me also, I dont mind a few scene's with the helmet off, but 90% of the movie? No thanks. This is why Adam Baldwin remains my number 1 choice for Dredd.

Wish this would go into production already :(

Perfect director IMHO John Hillcoat who did 2 films I really like... The Proposition and The Road.

Or how about Andrew Dominik.

Very good point. Totally agree.

I watched Dredd again the other night ..... must be about 4-5 years since my last viewing ....

It was worse than I remember ... in general a horrible movie.

The Angel gang were fantastic, long shots of the city were decent to look at but the rest was pure bile.

I grew up with Dredd .... read 2000ad every week when it dropped through the letter box .... that movie was an insult to a great character.

Well, if this one EVER goes into production, we will hopefully get a darker and more faithful product.

True, and look at it this way, imagine the advancements in CG that we'll have by 2045, because that will be the year they actually can their act together and make this movie....

I should certainly hope so, considering the changes they made last time.

Please give us the Dark Judges, and an actor that doesn't require his helmet to be taken off.

Kevin Durand could be an awesome Joe Dredd. He was one of the few good things about "Legion". He was really badass as Gabriel!

^He's been pretty good in a few things, havent seen Legion yet but he was good in 3:10 To Yuma and okay in Wolverine.
