This rumor is completely false, I've been told that Julian is "signed on and committed" to the role, and that he won't just be doing the voice.

Julian has the same hiehgt and frame as that guy, plus, I am a really big fan of Julian McMahon. Besides, all they have to do is give Julian bigger armor to wear.

According to the FX site for the new season of Nip/Tuck, Julian will be back as Dr. Doom.

When does Marvel get the rights back to this?

When fox goes 3 or 4 years without making a movie about anything to do with the FF, so if 3 years after Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer movie, they do a Silver surfer movie or a Doom orgin movie or something like that, they keep the rights for another few years.

^ 5 years is the average. I think Universal gave up early because they just ran out of time and didn't want to spend more time knowing the rights would expire. However they gave it up early to keep the distribution rights. Good move for both.
