So I take it Black took Harts role? Good, I'm happy about that.
Beth Elderkin said:The key word here is continuation, which likely means it wont be a direct sequel. Its probably going to be a broader part of the Jumanji cinematic universe, acknowledging the events of the past while also being its own story. Sort of like how Jurassic World is technically part of the Jurassic Park franchise but also totally not.
Jumanji is a 1995 American adventure fantasy film directed by Joe Johnston. It is an adaptation of the 1981 children's book of the same name by Chris Van Allsburg.
In 2005, a spiritual sequel to Jumanji titled Zathura was released; it was also adapted from a Van Allsburg book.
It's a sequel.Because publications are stupid about labeling things sequels, reboot, etc. IT doesnt matter much. Bad is bad, good is good, successful is successful, etc.So its a sequel.... Why do they need to over explain an idea that has been around for so long?
Am I just getting older where the younger generation that has grown up on all these reboots and sequels needs to be reminded as to what a sequel is?
This rant isn't directed at anyone in particular, Its just an observation.
Either way I am excited to see the concept of the Jumanji board game back on the big screen.
After watching Stranger Things I hope that is has some influence on Hollywood and teaches them that you can still have a scary a thrilling but fun and relatable kids film.
I feel like the danger element is gone with The Rock there. You're gonna tell me that a bunch of wild animals are more dangerous than this dude?

He might be playing against type.
Karen Gillan has landed a major role in Sonys remake of Jumanji, the Jake Kasdan-directed pic that toplines Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Nick Jonas.
Its the final piece of the casting puzzle for the pic, which now is set to kick off principal photography next month in Honolulu.
