Jurassic Park to be re-released!

^ The dinosaurs still look good after all these years

Oh. My. Days. This is going to bomb, they'll be the few core that will go watch it, but seriously the film hasn't aged well, the cgi looks dusty, and the parts with models and real puppets looks terrible now.

The first thing they need to do for a re-release is clean up the CG. The last they need to not do is make sure they dont go all 3D that will be a very sad time.

Im shocked at how old i am I remember being in primary school when this came out, some of ya'll weren't even born??? wtf!!

A technical revolution of the time. But the story isn't really anything to write home about. Certainly not a movie worth buying another movie ticket for after all these years. And I'm sure that if George Lucas or James Cameron had made this movie there would have been lots of comments about milking money :p

My first thought when I saw "re-release" was actually that Spielberg had caught the Lucas-bug of milking an old movie for more money with "new" scenes or redone special effects but other than better audio I didn't see anything alarming about this. And it's not being re-released on DVD either as far as I know, just on Blu-Ray.

That may be a thin difference but it's still a difference. It's almost certainly still a milk release but it is far less blatant.

I think this movie has aged extremely well. It still holds up to me. It was unbelievable when it first hit the theaters.

Eh, he already did that with E.T. , it got an anniversary release in cinemas with extra scenes added and CGI adds and subtracts. imo, worse than the adds/subtracts to the Sw SE's, as he added the CG to the ET puppet's expressions, which would been the same as Lucas adding Cg to Yoda in ESB, which thankfully he never did, cause it would have ruined half the movie.
At least Speilberg released the original version on dvd in a special double pack, I assume it was digitally remastered, not sure, otherwise it would be the same as what Lucas did with the unremastered SW discs.
All the same, it's a pain in the neck cause the remastered versions are the ones that are shown on tv now, and that is how a lot of kids will be introduced to it, he should not have messed around with the ET puppet, he made it look awful, whereas it was fine before, hell the movie was just fine before as well, the deleted scenes are crap and should have been left on the floor.
It was that and the Sw ones that led to that South Park ep, where they go in to steal the master tapes of the Indy Jones trilogy, after rumours of remastering crap into them surfaced, which in turn led to Lucas and Spielberg leaving them the hell alone in real life.

JP re-released only in the UK? Will people actually go to see it over here, I dunno, never felt like it was that big a deal over here, it's mostly US posters who rave about it on here anyway.

edit: if any US posters want to come over and catch it on the big screen, you can crash at my place, i'll show you the sights and what I get up to on a Friday and Saturday night in the town, haha.

As long as they dont tinker with it! Replace every scene with Sam Neill in it with a Walkie Talkie or something like that...
With Samuel Jackson having become a bigger star since then it would be actually funny if Spielberg wanted to film additional scenes with Jackson going crazy about the mother 'effin dinosaurs.

It would be impossible because 1) Sam looks older and his new scenes won't match, 2) it's PG-13.

Ahh, ahh, ahh! You didn't say the secret word!

Can't wait for this Blu-ray. Jurassic Park is still as thrilling as it was back in the day and the dino's still look real.

You know it kind of makes me sad when I watch JPIII, as while the raptors and Pteranodons look decent, the Rex and Spinosaur look really noticebly CGI at some points. Ever since I was a kid, I've wondered where the damn Spino came from, since it obviously was not on the island in The Lost World. I've considered maybe it was a rather resilient hatchling and was the only once to survive, hence it being the only Spinosaur and not showing up until it was grown in JP///, but I still can't really say. That and the fact a minor plot point of TLW was the raptor nesting grounds were near the village where the radio was, and they obviously weren't in JPIII either.

I loved this film when I was a kid, and I still enjoy it today. I think I was 7 or 8 when I first caught on the big screen. It was truly a memorable/classic film. I actually still own it on VHS.

I caught the Jurassic Park marathon on AMC two weeks back and it has definitely aged well.

Shame Jurassic Park III was such a let down. I beg Steven that he discontinue the idea of a rescue mission. After three films with the same template, I think it's time to move on.

Well, Universal is finally unleashing the movie worldwide... July 19, 2013. In 3D.

I know sighs are going 'round the Net complaining about 3D, but I'm pretty sure the re-release will have some 2D shows with it.

Never saw this theatrically. Plus, it capitalizes on the film's 20th anniversary as well, so...

Personally, I'm interested to see it in 3D and how Spielberg utilizes it. I mean, just look at Titanic - that film looks like it was stunningly converted. Hoping this is the same.

Everything dinosaur is great in JP, but out of all iriitating kids in a Spielberg movie - and boy this man knows how to make children irritating - this movie takes the biscuit. I'm not sure if I want to pass through that.

If at least this had new footage. Like Samuel Jackson finding out that Wayne Knight just screwed them up and going "Newman!"
