Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom - Part 1

I'm not a fan of weaponizing animals so I'm happy they didn't go that route. It's bad enough how causal they are to kill off the dinosaurs in this franchise for a cheap impact (see Blue's fellow raptors for instance, or how they used the mutant to just go on a killing spree for a flimsy "sport hunting" excuse) to then decide to use them as fodder in some even more ridiculous war setting.

If you want to go that route with weaponized dinosaurs, I would prefer they take it to an entirely new franchise seperate from Jurassic Park.

One draft for Jurassic Park 4 had super-intelligent military trained dinosaurs.

Mixed emotions. The sight of all the dinosaurs drowning makes me feel sick.

In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Spielberg confirms that Trevorrow will return to direct JP6.

I also see that as a lack of confidence in J.A. Bayona. If Fallen Kingdom turns out to be a lot better than Jurassic World I won't want Trevorrow to take the reins again.

Oh schnap that means JA Bayona will be free to do something else! :gngl:

I’m fine with Colin coming back seeing as I love what he did with JW so I’m in

I still enjoy Jurassic World, but some of what happened with Treverrow post JW has made me side eye some of it.

They don't even know this will make money, why would you even be thinking about the next one? :(

When you make as much as the first one did, it is a safe assumption this one will make money as well.

Jurassic World is a prime example of a movie that's really fun on the first viewing but the flaws become more and more obvious on each consecutive viewing. I still enjoy it too, and I'd take it over Jurassic Park III any day.

Yeah, I agree with that assessment. To be quite honest, I miss Jeff Goldblum's and Sam Neill's characters.

For me it wasn't even two viewings to see several of the flaws and forced stupidity or blindness of the characters to realize how it had to be contrived that way to get the story into position.

It isn't terrible (unlike say the punching bag that is Prometheus) where the story had to take otherwise intelligent people and briefly turn them into blithering idiots but they were too quick to make mistakes they should otherwise have known not to.

Yeah, it's got to be that and not because he co-write and directed the most successful Jurassic Park movie ever. He's got to have some nasty dirt on Spielberg. And it can't be that you know, Spielberg now relies on Trevorrow to handle his franchise after doing for all intents and purposes a good job on the fourth film.

It just sort of reeks a little of being uninspired again. Trevorrow's...fine, but he's not really an "interesting" director like Bayona. And all the Star Wars stuff gives me pause, if Kennedy had issues with him.

JW wasn't an awful movie - and I get they'd want him from a financial point of view, but ehh. It was just pretty run-of-the-mill overall.
