Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom - Part 1

It just sort of reeks a little of being uninspired again. Trevorrow's...fine, but he's not really an "interesting" director like Bayona. And all the Star Wars stuff gives me pause, if Kennedy had issues with him.

JW wasn't an awful movie - and I get they'd want him from a financial point of view, but ehh. It was just pretty run-of-the-mill overall.

Well, if the rumours are true Trevorrow wanted Luke to stay alive until Episode 9 and this is one of th reasons they had disagreements, Colin is okay in my book. Luke surviving would have been so much better than what we got.

I enjoyed JW so I'm fine with this.

Same.

It's half and half for me. I enjoy Jurassic World a great deal, but the writing and to a lesser extent the directing are the weakest stuff in the movie for me. Like, I'm still amazed at how simplistic the characterization is.

And how stupid every character is. Also the gender politics were, iffy (unfortunately the same was true in The Book of Henry as well).

The biggest problem with it, is that it's just rehashing the first film, but with virtually none of the substance or deeper ideas that JP had.

Hoping that the Dinosaur rescue mission spin will work for Fallen Kingdom.

You know what's an interesting thought? The fact that there's an active campaign in this film to rescue dinosaurs on the island because it's "the humane thing to do" and yet Claire had no problem using live goats, pigs, cattle, and great white sharks to feed the carnivores in the past. :hmm

It's not inhumane to feed a carnivore live prey. Carnivores eating prey isn't malicious. It's just instinct and their natural behavior and they kill efficiently and quickly if given the opportunity. Granted, restraining the live prey or tying it to a pole isn't sporting but a goat, pig, cow wouldn't stand a chance against a large carnivore so even if you didn't restrain the live prey it'd still get eaten and might even suffer more and die slower.

Also, feeding a single goat to a carnivore isn't remotely the same as letting all the dinosaurs be killed by a volcanic explosion.

Also, dinosaurs are cooler than goats and cows.

Also despite cloning tech being a thing, two of these animals die out, they’re extinct again. The sharks they were feeding, in supplementary materials anyway, were cloned for food. So they weren’t impacting the global shark population or anything.

Yeah there's a difference between feeding one of two large population animals to a carnivore (and JP also has Dr. Grant point out that not letting the carnivores actually HUNT their prey goes against their natural instinct), and letting entire species be wiped out by a natural disaster.

Especially since it was humans who were apparently stupid enough to put these animals, and a freaking theme park, on an island with a volcano that they forgot to make absolutely sure was 100% extinct first.

It would have been awesome had they brought back Sam Neill's character of Dr Alan Grant for Fallen Kingdom or had they brought back Laura Dern's character of Dr Ellie Sattler for Fallen Kingdom

Teaser for the full trailer on Wednesday

OH ****. The Mosasaur got loose.
Makes you wonder how, because (if I correctly recall) it wasn't connected to the actual ocean, but rather an enclosed ... lake? I suppose there could be more than one of them though?

It could've jumped the enclosure. Remember how it killed Indominous?

So we have a teaser for a trailer for next week for a movie that won't come out until over 2 months from now... this is ridiculous.

A Hollywood staple that needs to die, yes.

The enclosure is nowhere near the ocean though; it's more central to the mainland. I doubt such a creature could crawl all the way from it's enclosure to the ocean...

Either the creature was removed from the park and escaped from it's new home, or it's a different Mosasaur - unless there are (which would be weird) underground tunnels, one of which it managed to travel through.

I loved that shot of the Mossasaur swimming underneath the surfers. That's the kind of stuff I want to see in The Meg movie. Very much looking forward to this new trailer.

I think it's time for Kong enemies like Gamera to start making appearances in these films.

Great little tease can’t wait for the new trailer

Whatever you say, Bob Ross Deadpool. (:
I think you fail to see the point but that's okay, that is why we are now teasing the trailer for a movie instead of seeing the actual trailer.

It's the pre-engagement announcement for the engagement for the wedding kind of silly.

"We're not engaged yet, but we are telling you now we will be getting engaged next week and later, get married."
