Jurassic World - Part 10

Alright, with 511 million in the bank already it's safe to assume this baby is getting a sequel. Where the hell does Universal go from here without treading familiar territory and releasing lackluster garbage like JP3?

How many kids were in yalls screenings? My auditorium was full of kids, who were surprisingly well behaved. They were glued to the screen.:D I think this is what's producing this fantastic box office. Parents who loved the original film when they were young are able to experience this new one with their young kids. It's a great film for the whole family.:)

All they need to do is to hire a good writer and come up with a good story.

There is another thread to discuss a sequel so there you go.

A cameo by Jeff would be funny. Him on a talk show commenting about another theme park full of dinosaurs not working out, laughing to himself about chaos theory.

Easier said than done.

However, anyone else believe we'll see Sam and Jeff return to the franchise?

Maybe. They are going to have the money to give them good paychecks.

Who could have guess that Universal would be the most profitable studio this summer?

I'm seeing this baby in a couple of days, I just can't believe how much money is making. I knew it was going to be big, but there was no indication of such big numbers.
Lot of surprises this year.

I have a serious beef with this movie. I found it horribly unrealistic.

We're supposed to believe that the teenager in the film spends half the movie looking at girls...and then runs away from his hot tour guide at the first opportunity?

Riiight.

You can't expect any JP film to recapture the magic of that first reveal of the dinosaurs. Even in real life the laws of diminishing returns effect us. We've seen four films by now. The audience isn't going to be blown away by dinosaurs like they were in 1993. In 1993 it was amazing because no one had really seen something like. They hadn't seen dinosaurs done so well, so "magical", and with so much "realism". But now we have. We've seen that magical moment over and over and over for the past 20 years. So I'm not sure any JP sequel will ever have a moment like that one, and that's not a bad thing. It indicates that moment in JP1 was truly something very special.

I actually really liked the film's commentary on this aspect. The idea that dinosaurs are somewhat "old hat" and it takes more to grab and keep the world's attention.

To that end, the beautiful "they do move in herds" music, heard to such great effect in the first film via the scene of dinosaurs being discovered safari style right in the midst of nature...in JURASSIC WORLD is used in a scene where the masses react to the glitz and glam, the sterilized, controlled, packaged modern commercialism of the park. On a freaking MONORAIL, high above nature. Loved that moment and the juxtaposition of those scenes within the franchise.

The JP series has never been known for deep and complex characters.

This seems to be the major complaint of this film. And its true, the characters aren't that great. But I'm honestly hard-pressed to consider them, as characters, less interesting than Alan Grant, Ian Malcom or Ellie Sadler, who themselves were pretty thinly drawn characters (in the films, at least) and ditto the children.

The major difference is that Grant, Sadler, Malcom, et al had better and more memorable dialogue, largely courtesy of the source novel and Crichton. There just weren't the "memorable speeches" for characters in this movie that JURASSIC PARK boasted. The characters in this film did a lot of stating the obvious. But the actual themes surrounding them were fairly interesting and well-explored and developed.

Well the thing is, you don't want the human characters to overshadow the Dinos.

Also, I really want to see Dinosaur pets be a thing.

I don't even know what that means in context. They're two different entities and meant to balance out. There are, as in the original films, scenes focused on the human characters and their interactions and scenes focusing on the dinosaurs, where the humans are mostly in peril.

They could've eliminated annoying IronMan 3 Boy and his brother who wanted to poke a hole in everything without a y chromosome. Focus on other characters. I do know why they're in the movie. I understand you have to put the kids in to draw in the family audience........

It for me captured a lot of the same magic as the original. It was exactly what it was suppose to be, a thrilling, tense, large scale, summer blockbuster. I don't watch JP for its Oscar winning performances . Chris Pratt stole the show.... Again. The kids were honestly more interesting with the whole big brother little brother dynamic, the Dino's were awesome, the whole Concept of people growing tired of Dino's and they needed to up the ante, the nods to the original , I-Rex was a beast, the raptors .... Loved them. The movie was fantastic . I loved it and in my opinion( which is just an opinion) it was right behind the original ... It's hard to top that one. It had some heart felt moments, a likable and capable lead hero, and made you care about the Dino's . That final fight was epic. I gotta agree with another post.... It was almost like the park fighting back against this monster that wasn't trying to survive ... Just a monster that wanted to kill. T-Rex was basically a missle pointed at the I-Rex and the raptors.... Well GO TEAM BLUE

I definitely didn't see it coming. And not to get too off-topic but I suppose this means they'll end up dropping their supposed revival of the old Universal monsters, which all sounded like a gargantuan mess building up.

Still, they should tread carefully going forward.

At one point, the dialog between the brothers had me thinking they might kill off the older one. Stuff like that left me thinking of what was gonna happen next.

Would have to agree with that statement. It just worked for me better than most kids in these movies. I was able to connect better even with the kids.

Just got done watching movies fights on screen junkies and round one was jurassic world fun or failure and listening to the guy try to say this movie was a failure made me almost faint.

I actually thought Dan Murrell made some great points.

One detail I loved about this theme was seeing people like Zach more interested in looking at their iPhones than they were looking at the T-Rex or the Mosasaur.
