Jurassic World - Part 10

Not so fast! I'll just Zelda Rubenstein you back from the afterlife in time for The Big Bang Theory marathon. :p

But unfortunately mine really wasn't. It was just Trevorrow harping on the nostalgia expecting you to fall for it. It's as if he just placed it in there for the sake of it.

"Hey look THE goggles! Remember these!!!!"

I just couldn't believe how sloppy this screenplay was. It had the right ideas, but they just talked about them and it didn't help cliches and on heavy handed characterization was the foundation for them.

Within the context of the story it makes sense and good connection to the past having the original park be in the restricted zone and the kids coming across it. Everything in the story worked for jurassic world that might not have worked in the other 3 films. The original had cliches galore and heavy handed characterizations but no one complains because it set the tone for future films and was the first use computer generated dinosaurs.

Jurassic world is a worthy sequel that doesnt try to compete or out do the original but simply take the next logical step. If it were in the real world of course another corporation would step in thinking they could do the park right and better.

I did think the vine-encased visitor center was a bit much. They said it had been what, twelve years?

I guess if its Jurassic vegetation...

22 years after the events of JP. Also, this is a jungle

Look at Chernobyl after 20 years of no human presence in a climate nowhere near as chaotic as a jungle. Nature takes back pretty quick.

Man this movie sucked. I just couldn't believe it.

Chris Pratt, Jake Johnston, and Omar Sy were about the only likeable characters that were actually smart. Though Johnston was on the edge of pure cartoon. Everybody else were just caricatures and that did indeed change but were so ****ing obvious by it I just couldn't believe it. I mean the script was just plan bad. You'd think two indie writers would now better. Meta references to the original isn't going to make it smart. These characters wore their traits over their heads. Nor was the commentary which was just so weak and on the nose it was incredible.

In hindsight, Joss Whedon was right about that clip as much as I didn't want it to be true. Yes Claire changed, but it was so obvious but it still played into the stereotype of "uptight woman changes into badass." God, it just all reeked of your typical 70's movie cliches. There was no subtlety nor dimension to these characters.

And Vincent D'Onfrio's introduction... wow. Literally talking about his entire motivation. He just kept talking... and talking... and talking.

I couldn't believe just how stale the directing was. Where was the verve? There was no suspense, no sense of build up. All the things that we liked about the first one I feel were played with to hit the nostalgia chords but all fell flat because there was no central base. I think Trevorrow forgot why the first worked so well was because of the build up to the mayhem. It just played as a generic fast paced summer movie. This movie just didn't feel unique. Even with the dinosaurs. Even when I just wished to see them, I wasn't excited about them. Even the I-Rex was weak. He wasn't threatening at all. The spino was more effective than this.

Jurassic Park 3 ain't a great movie, but there was at least some heft to it. And better directed despite the lesser script. Joe Johnston should have directed this movie instead. I seriously wonder what the previous draft was that Trevorrow couldn't direct.

Stupid people doing stupid things for the convenience of the plot.

Man, good riddance Trevorrow. When can will we actually see another quality Jurassic Park film? I wouldn't mind if you just created new ones. But with the success of this Pratt will come back surely which I don't mind. You can leave everyone else.
I honestly was contemplating writing a review until I read this. Bro....BRO, you hit the nail on the head there. This was honestly gruelling to sit through, and I'm surprised it has a 70% RT rating. My god, this thing felt like a cartoon. Everyone is a walking stereotype, and I f***ing hated the kids.

*Cue Vincent D'Onfrio just staring...F***ING STARING and smiling at destruction for half of his scenes*

I feel like Trevorrow wanted to emulate Spielberg's somewhat animated, blockbuster sensibilities, but at least keep the acting on a somewhat grounded level. I went in with low expectations, because the trailers/clips were terrible, and frankly, I left feeling empty. This was bad.

Also, I don't even know where to begin in terms of cinematography and editing. JP worked so well, because of the fine execution of those two core components. Everything, even during chaotic scenes, is far too flat and polished. There's no grit. And unlike Spielberg, when the tension escalates, Trevorrow just cuts the **** out of the picture.

I'm done.

dude just look at my yard after like a week of not cutting the grass

I love how Marvel fans are giving all the credit for the success to Starlord. :whatever:

I didn't see a single person who wanted to see this movie because of Pratt.

The man has a fanbase and I'm sure it played a part, but I don't think the movie owes it's success to him and him alone.

Jungle plantlife is insanely invasive. If upkeep stops and noone is around to keep it back then jungle plantlife can reclaim an area in a short amount of time. Its like kudzu on steroids. Quite a bit different than the forest plant life you are probably used to living around.

I thought that I saw a few of those signposts.
I loved all of the callbacks.

Redlettermedia have a new Jurassic World Half in the bag. It's great. They even get to rip on Whedon a bit.

Conceptually this movie works. It's just the execution was off.

That's not exclusively why people like the original. The movie doesn't have the most in depth characterization of all time, but they are simple played by great actors who gave a lot of personality helped by the direction of Spielberg. Those characters, along with the build up held your attention until the chaos began. I'm not saying repeat the same beats to achieve the same success, God knows they tried to do it here in the same degree, but mind what makes good suspense good suspense and good build up in the direction.

I'm not saying characters in a Jurassic Park film need to be the most in depth in the world. But that doesn't mean they can't be smart and compelling in the meantime before you get to watch the dinosaurs. It's the whole Godzilla idea. You are obviously there to watch Godzilla **** **** up. Same with this franchise. But you can still have interesting characters to latch onto in the mayhem that's occurring.

There's many shots of the characters dramatically standing up and looking at the screens too. :funny:

I really wanted to like this and have a good time and I went in with an optimistic open mind. But my God, I just didn't want to be the guy who said, "This movie sucks" because I could tell everyone around me was having a good time.

I'm seeing this tomorrow again to give it another chance so I know what I'm expecting but **** man, it doesn't stop the first viewing from being displeasurable.

Genetically engineered weaponized frankestein's dinosaur and trained raptor droids.. They should have finished with Sharktopus coming out water instead of Mosasaur at the end :hehe: Mega budget syfy movie.

Um read the posts I've provided below. You'll have your answers.
