Finally saw the movie. I liked it, but it felt kind of... sterile.

The actors are mostly on auto-pilot, especially Chris Pratt. He has the same facial expression for two hours. The kids were fine but what the hell was that divorce thing about? Cringe-worthy and unnecessary scene to make you sympathize with the kids. Also the way the older kid keeps staring at girls like a creep.

The CGI in the movie is fine, but I feel like there is an inherent problem with the movie's plot that diminishes the impact that the dinosaurs have. The park is fully functional, which means we see all the dinosaurs in their full "glory" in daylight. Because of that, the dinosaurs (especially the raptors) don't really blend in with the background and stand out as animated creatures. I never thought the Indominus Rex was REALLY there.

I liked the part where the kids stumble upon the famous location from the first movie, but it would have been better if it hadn't been a retread of Vince Vaughn's discovery in TLW.

All in all, an entertaining movie, but one that doesn't hold a candle to the original.

I don't really like the sub-plot where the brothers talk about their parents's divorce since the movie never address that further.

But I guess that was brought up to bring the brothers closer/ to strengthen their relationship especially since the beginning, the older brother was all about checking out girls, missing his girlfriend and thinks his little brother is very annoying.

The "divorce" talk help the brothers to bond.

Funny thing is I have no strong desire to rush out to see this but all this discussion about the opening weekend record makes me want to go and buy the bluray for the first film today so either way I guess it's a win-win situation for Universal.

So what is the OW update? Is it still 180-190 million?

If you look at what used to be the old Box Office Mojo forums it sounds like JW has a pretty good shot at the OW record. Never in a million years did I see that coming.

One question I wanted to ask earlier but I'm not sure was ever addressed. The Rex from JP1 was the same one released at the end to fight rambosaur. But how did these people find a Rex from 20 years ago and actually find a way to catch it and then lock her up?. Can't imagine capturing a T Rex to be easy

One part I don't get.....earlier on Claire scolds Lowery for wearing a "Jurassic Park" T-shirt. Why?? I don't get it.
She thought it was in bad taste, and perhaps a bad omen considering the original park failed.

As for soaking yourself in petrol - Owen was improvising in that particular moment. It wouldn't be wise to be walking around full time as a molotov cocktail waiting to be lit.

A T-Rex is put down with tranquillisers in TLW without much fuss. I imagine they did something similar.

I felt that same. A solid B- movie.

Besides tranqing it, they could have also used a flare or two.

And Hunter hell yessssss! So happy with this movie :woot:

I was thinking about your point regarding the Raptor scene being reminiscent of the scene at the beginning of Aliens with the Marines, I also felt the scene where the i-Rex took out the Park's SWAT team was like Predator, the way it stalked them.

There were so many cool nods to JP as well, especially the Gyrosphere sequence and the opening shot that swooped over the Park, it was like the reveal in JP.

I highly enjoyed this. It was a good sequel. A few nit picks but it did a great job. Action was great and it looked beautiful. All of the characters were just serviceable. None really shined to me.

I wish it had a bit more science. I would have loved to have a scene where its explained to everyone just what the iRex is instead of a few tidbits here and there. They had the perfect opportunity in the lab.

The assistant's death is forgotten and no one cares. Either don't kill her or give her one line of rememberance.

There's a lot of unnecessary comedy amidst the tension moments. Some of that could have been cut down. It takes away from the moment. I can only remember one in JP1 when Malcom wipes away the condensation once the Rex is out.

That's about all my complaints. Bring on JW2. Just please no Dino's with guns.

Thanks. Yeah, you're right. Petrol will catch fire easily.

Can someone answer this.....the Indominus Rex has the raptors' DNA.

When the raptors first met the Indominus Rex, the Indominus Rex made the raptors turn against the humans.

So the raptors are on the Indominus Rex's side.

Then why is it during the finale, the three remaining raptors decide to fight against the Indominus Rex???

I think Omar Sy is great in this. I was hoping his character, Barry was involved in the climatic battle.

But after Owen saves him from the raptor, you don't get to see Barry again.

And in the finale, why didn't Owen sprayed petrol on him, Claire and the kids since it worked for him earlier on in the film?

The petrol would have covered up their scent from the Indominus Rex.

They rebranded the park as Jurassic World, they wanted no mention of Park because of the original incident.

I assume you're talking about when they were in the garage, the rex came outta nowhere pretty fast and he didn't even have time to grab his gun just a few feet away.

edit: nvm annefan already answered.

That's insanely impressive. Only $3 million shy of The Avengers' record. Before this weekend, I would have pegged this for a $140 million opening tops. One thing's for sure, it definitely won't be a 14 year wait for a sequel.

I think that was to show their lifelong bond was stronger than the 10 second one they had with the I Rex.

Looks like Chris Pratt is box office gold.

Cliche characters, dumb characters, mediocre script, an almost over reliance on nostalgia for the original, but a decent monster flick I had fun watching. Bring on Jurassic Galaxy.

So this is now officially the second highest OW of all time? Wow, I didn't expect that at all.
