I watched JP tonight in preparation for seeing JW tomorrow, oh that film is perfection! From the first huge T-Rex attack where there is no music as the roar is the theme, to the small scenes like Grant feeling the Triceratops breathe or him and the kids feeding the Brachiosaurus, it's filled with one magic scene after another! :)

Hell yes! We all know JW won't top JP. But I definitely see it topping TLW and JP3. Can't wait to discuss with you Hunter. Especially after all the leaked clips and footage I've been watching. Cannot wait to discuss.

Ok, the update to the park website is pretty cool.

Some of you worry way too much about what others think haha. Just see if you enjoy it. If you yourself enjoy it then that's the most important thing overall.

I will judged it on my own of course just starting to wory it will not be as good has I thought it would be. It is now at a 69 RT and for top critics only a 59. Does any one ever think we will ever get JP movie at 80 or higher ever again? It will probly be a week before I get to see this movie.

For the record....

I don't think i have ever seen him try to peddle his art for sale.

I think he is just sharing.....

He posted a link to a site where his art could be bought. C. Lee removed it.

My Review!

Arlighty. Just saw it. I normally don't post reviews but I'm still experience the post film effects, so I feel the need to write up a review. Spoilers below, so I'll put it in tags, for the length also. For those looking to avoid spoilers, don't read. Ill try to keep them at a minimum

Anyway, here we go

Subjectivity! We all have our personal tastes. Every technical complaint about the movie is completely valid; meaning if you can go into this objectively, there are certainly flaws. In that respect, the critics are right. However, it is up to the standards of the viewers for them to decide if these flaws negatively effect the opinion of the movie quality. For myself, and evidently my theater of over 160 people, this wasn’t the case.
I’ll start with the complaints.

Characters - I think everyone did a fine job. There were a few lines from a few actors that made me think “acting”, but not enough to pull me from the scene. There were many different stereotypes, a bit too strong sometimes. Deconstructing these characters was the evident goal of the filmmakers, as stated by them. The script didn’t allow that as well as they seemed to intended it to. Bryce Dallas Howard did a fine job, in her deconstruction, there stereotype never really left the character. Chris Pratt’s character was pretty different than anything he’s played before. His humor was reduced to maybe 2 or 3 jokes, mild ones at that, through out the movie. The character wasn’t super interesting, but Pratt made him exciting to watch.

CGI!! The big polarizing aspect of it. Some shots were clearly cgi. The dinosaurs looked real enough though, very organic. However, the overall special effects came up JUST short of the original, but made up for it in it’s own way. The film was unique in itself. Now the biggest complaint for CGI was the T Rex. There were about two shots where it was clear CGI. Perhaps some aren’t as hyper observant, however she is clearly different than in the original film. She does look a bit different.
However, I think that’s the point. Her feet look bigger, I’ll say that’s due to a lessening of muscle mass in the legs. Her skin is lighter, looks harder and more dry. She doesn’t look as massive as in the first movie. If we are going to keep continuity, I would say the animal itself lost about a ton or so in weight. Again, she’s old, so I think this was intentional. A young, but full grown adult Rex in this movie probably would have looked different than this Rex, she’s old. Ill let that slide personally.
Now for some things that I liked. It felt like a Jurassic Park sequel. It was fun. I wasn’t overly fond of the whole super adaptive created monster predator that the I Rex was, but I get the point. The whole monstrosity of that animal starts to become more believable when it becomes apparent what Ingen wants to do with dinosaurs. It seems pretty implied that Indominus almost was a test in secret of weaponizing a dinosaur. It wasn’t created to be an animal to gawk at. Also, being raised in captivity was a valid reason to explain the psychopathy.

Let me add, I didn’t like how lots of the dinosaurs were fodder. It was heart breaking to see the 6 dead sauropods, as well as the Ankylosaur. Indominus’ jaw should have broke. Also, the man on the helicopter shooting down the pterosaur, warranting a laugh.

Owen’s relationship with the raptors was peculiar. They were also raised in captivity and seemed to not really know what to do when it’s time for them to be wild animals. I found that to be very interesting, there’s quite a tone of animal psychology in this movie.

The Indominus itself. Terrifying, monstrous. The thing was down right scary, and tore through ALMOST everything in its path. When it tossed the raptor into the pit, and the raptor essentially blew up, I winced. That wasn’t necessary.

Now for the final fight. Man. The last 25 minutes my heart was pounding out of my chest. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised at how the Rex did against Indominus.
Now here come my heavy spoilers.

The start of their fight consisted of the T Rex going for the neck, unable to fully grab, as it continued to bite indominus. At one point, indominus clawed the Rex in the face, which caused her to lower her head, giving Indominus leverage. She then started to bite and claw and use her weight to push Rexy to the ground. The way the scene was built up, Rex was up against the wall. She didn’t look physically “defeated”, (since she evidently ends up getting up and attacking), it just seemed that because of her anatomy, she didn’t have the time to struggle and roll to her feet before the Indominus got to her.
However, once the raptor came back, and jumped on Indominus distracting it, the T Rex is able to get up and able to continue to fight. Indominus isn’t able to use her arms apparently, and the t rex then basically fits her jaw around the entire neck of the Indominus and rams her into a building. The next minute of the fight essentially consists of the T Rex dragging, biting and more or less tossing around the indominus by the neck before eventually tossing and flipping it about 20 feet with a flick of her head while bull rushing. Aside from weapons, I think they made it clear which animal was physically stronger.

Anyway, I loved it.
8/10.

Saw it and LOVED it. I was expecting the worst going in from some of the advanced reviews, and as with everything, people are bound to dislike things (and many with good reasons of their own).

With that said, this was by FAR the best movie since the first one. Much better paced then the previous couple, and overall, better characters. And the dinosaurs...my GOD, they looked FANTASTIC. Really, with maybe a few exceptions, the CGI was great all around. I don't want to gush, but I can't help it at the moment. We all had such a good time with this, and the climax was just out of this world. If you liked the ending of the first one, you will simply be geeking out into the stratosphere.

Again, I know plenty of people will have their reasons not to like this, but for me, I won't even say this is a guilty pleasure. I utterly enjoyed this movie and can't wait to see it again. I think for most of you saying that you just want to enjoy the movie, you will not be let down.

Oh, and for those worrying about how the Rex may or may not handle something in the climax?

The Rex does not push the I-Rex into the Mosasaur tank exactly, nor does she really seem to have any strategy in doing so. She and the I-Rex are just having a BRUTAL brawl that puts JP3 to shame, tossing each other around and bullrushing each other and everything. At the end, just coincidence, she manages to knock the I-Rex really hard into the fencing surrounding the lagoon, knocking a section of it over. The I-Rex does not go into the water, just struggles to get to its feet, but it's so close to the water that the Mosasaur's attention is drawn to it, and it lunges out and grabs it from the walkway. It doesn't really feel contrived at all, just really lucky for the Rex, and overall very plausible.

Couple more minor points. Wu makes a great statement in passing about the dinos in the park and how because things had to be spliced and worked specially to bring them to life, they are all obviously different looking than how they would have looked in the past. You get the impression that some are more accurate than others, but things like the Dillo and Raptors are clearly different from their actual looks for that very reason.

Oh and a surprise dino appearance from
Dilophosaurus, albeit in the form of a hologram projection
was great.

Tomorrow is the day for me and my crew.

I won't be able to sleep.

Question for people that have seen the movie in 3d How is the 3d? I saw Jurassic park in 3d back in 2013 for its 20 years and the 3d was great one of the best effects of 3d I have ever seen before. Does this movie look good in 3d to? Also is all IMAX 3d? Or are there 2d and 3d IMAX?

I thought there were a few too many throwbacks to JP -- a lot more than the trailers let on -- but this was really enjoyable. So much better than the last two movies.

Why would anyone go see a movie they are loving forward stoned or blazed up? Seems really stupid and immature. Had a bunch of teen pot heads ruin a few movies for me because they showed up stoned and felt the need to add a cometary track and off color jokes to the movie.

Those darn stoners and their uncontrollable commentary! Next thing ya know, kids will be shooting up heroin in the aisles!

They should have all movie theater patrons be drug tested upon entry. That way, they'll ensure that ShadowBoxer has a good experience.

I hope I find it better then 2 and 3 that would be great because I do think lost world is a good fun movie. No not has good as the first but 2 is still a fun movie so if this is better that would be great and I think it will be. So far like ever one is saying it is better then 2 or 3. While most people. A guy I know at work said he didn't really care for it that it was like transformers CGI porn and that he thinks 2 is better.

Just got back.

WHOOOOOOO!! I ****ing loved it!!

I seriously didn't expect to enjoy it so much... Hell, I was basically thinking of it as an obligation before I went, since today would have been my only chance to see it for a week... but what a great ****ing ride. This is my favourite movie of the year so far. I'm still all jittery from the adrenaline.

I really didn't expect this. So happy.

Well since this isn't a final exam in school with the letter grades haha how would you rank it among the sequels.

Entertainment Weekly uses letter grades for their reviews. It certainly gives a more accurate idea of how someone rates a movie than a 1-5 scale. I'm sorry that my grade didn't make you happy, so you felt the need to take a jab at me.

In terms of the sequels, I really don't know if I feel that this was any better than JPIII. It probably is by a bit, but this movie just feels so much more manufactured and artificial than any of the rest -- and I'm not talking about the special effects.

Oh relax shape I wasn't jabbing at you. Joking around a bit thought you and I were cool, thought you could take a little joke. Guess not then my apologies.

I got back from seeing it not too long ago. I really wanted to love the movie. It was entertaining and I enjoyed it, but I only thought it was just a little better than The Lost World. At least it was way better than JP3. Of course it doesn't reach the heights of the original, but nobody thought it would.

What I liked:
- The raptor pack. I liked the direction they went with it, and how not even Owen was completely safe from them.
- The Mosasaurus. Easily the best new dinosaur added to the franchise since The Lost World.
- Seeing the T-Rex again was awesome, even though I thought the CG looked a little off. Was it just me, or did they give it puppy dog eyes?
- Chris Pratt, Irrfan Khan, Omar Sy, and the control room engineers were the only new characters who I found to be tolerable.
- This may be morbid, but the death scenes were top notch. Let's face it, a big reason why people see these movies is to see people get eaten by dinosaurs, and this one didn't disapppint. The standouts were Claire's assistant getting swallowed by the mosasaur and the soldier getting impaled by the pteranodon's beak in the helicopter. Speaking of the mosasaur, the Indominus Rex's death scene was satisfying as well.
- The action set pieces were well done, from the ACU vs. the I-Rex to the pteranodon attack to the raptors vs. military. But the fight at the end was awesome. I loved the tag team between the T-Rex and Blue before the Mosasaur finally took that big bastard down.
- Michael Giacchino gave us a great score and did a wonderful job of incorporating the original John Williams themes.
- The brief Dilophosaurus cameo made me smile. Even though it was just via hologram, I've always wanted to see it again.

What I didn't like:
- As with the other Jurassic Park sequels, most of the characters annoyed me to no end. There wasn't enough development. The kids were unbearable. For the next one, can we just leave kids out of it? It's been done to death already. The younger one was just annoying, but at what point were we supposed to like the older one after he neglects his girlfriend and tries to make a move on everyone with a vagina while at the park? I'm surprised he didn't try to get with Claire's assistant, a character who we didn't even know enough to really care when she died. Claire was just arrogant, but she wasn't as bad as Tea Leoni in JP3. You could've tattooed "BAD GUY" on D'Onofrio's forehead. You could see his death coming the minute he stepped on screen, but even that felt forced. It's like the raptor literally ran in to shut him up. As for Dr. Wu, it didn't bother me that he turned out to be bad, since there was nothing to prove otherwise in the first film, plus the character was a bit of a jerkass in the original novel anyway, or at least I think he was. Most, if not all, of the characters in the book are pretty unlikeable.
- Waaay too much CGI. I think there were only two instances where animatronics were used: the raptors' heads while they were in containment and the dying Apatosaurus. And even then, those were enhanced by CGI. The Mosasaurus, Indominus Rex, and the Raptors looked great, but something seemed off about the T-Rex. As I said earlier, the eyes looked "friendlier". It looked good in the final shot, at least. But I would have loved to see more animatronic work done here.
- They couldn't have come up with a better way for the Indominus to escape? It tricked them? Really? The logical solution instead of opening up the gate would have been a quick call to the control room to check the status of the tracking device on the animal. The overall lack of common sense between Masrani and Claire in regards to the development of the I-Rex was dumb too. They absolutely should have known everything about the genetic makeup of the animal, especially given how dangerous it was.

I could go on and on, but here's how I'd rank them:

Jurassic Park - 9.5/10
Jurassic World - 7/10
The Lost World: Jurassic Park - 6/10
Jurassic Park III - 5/10

Just saw it a couple hours ago. Absolutely loved it. Of course it can't touch the original. But this was full of great, exciting moments and pure, genuine fun.
And it retains the original spirit and themes, without falling into overwhelming nostalgia.

Definitely much, much better than the other sequels.
