Justice League Justice League - All the Deleted Footage SPOILER Talk - Part 1

It's almost as if the original characters were implanted with false memories from their Timmverse counterparts. I almost choked on my beverage when Diana referred to Superman as Kal-El, the last son of Krypton.

To be fair, the entire world may have known some of that information since Zod broadcast it on his warning message.

But the "last son of krypton" was just sooooooo on the nose. It would've felt more personal if she tried to bring up, you know, her only moment with him. When he sacrificed himself.

I wish the studio had gone with a replacement director whose sensibilities weren't quite so divergent from Snyder's. Even if you like Whedon (and I don't hate everything he's done), you've got to admit that he was the wrong man for the job.

Note: I know it's been said that he was handpicked by Zack himself, but I'm not so sure about that.

I think the best we can hope for is the cut material being included as deleted scenes. The theatrical cut is the movie. While some of Snyder's cut scenes were (at least mostly) finished (like the alternate finale in the trailers), many others weren't, and Junkie left before the bulk of scoring took place (which I'm sure is why Whedon was able to replace him).

Not only would it cost the studio tens of millions just to finish the VFX shots, they'd also need to either get Elfman to score the additional scenes or bring back Junkie to rescore the entire movie (something I've never heard of happening before; at best we'd get a Superman II situation, where they'd track MoS & BvS cues, which would be an incoherent mess).

Let's not forget what a PR debacle it would be for the studio to do something like this, to admit that they screwed up in such a fundamental and public way. As others have stated, the UC was already in the works before BvS was released, and adding a couple minutes to SS doesn't really amount to much. To alter JL to the degree that most posters here want would be a far more labor intensive and costly affair, and something that is extremely unlikely to happen. I'd actually like to see Snyder's version of the film, just to see what it would've been, but who knows if he'd even want to return to it now, after all that has happened and the memories it might dredge up.

I have to say, one thing I'm glad they changed was Cyborg's helmet. Can't understand why Snyder didn't see the obvious parallels to Deadshot. And why would they remove the only tangibly real aspect of the character?

Yeah the difference is that BVS UC WAS the original movie. It was cut down for theatrical release. For JL, what we're asking for is essentially a wholly different version of the movie. With a different score.

they could just restore the deleted scenes that were cut because KT demanded the stupid 2 hour mandate.

release it around KT's departure next year in March hopefully, then it can be his apology or the new boss' goodwill to fans - extra 20-30min for a better wholesome JL movie

and the score doesn't need to be scored again by the expensive composers, just get an editor and...like trailer parks for SS lol

but...but she chose to hide in the shadows during Zod's invasion :o

*can of worms opening

Or she was in Paris or London and, without the power of flight or an invisible jet, she couldn’t get to Metropolis in time to lend a hand battling Zod’s forces. Or attack the other terraforming machine in the ocean.

Of course, if she could fly like she does in the comics (and as strongly indicated in the final battle in her own movie), then she may have been able to reach Metropolis. But, the entire Metropolis battle did seem to start and end within just a few hours (if that, from memory).

No major studio would release an unfinished film like you're describing. The only similar cases I can think of are Superman II, Blade Runner & Troy. All of those movies (except Superman) were completed by the original director, and changes made were relatively minor (adding finished deleted scenes, slight CGI clean-up, a reshot insert).

I have never heard of an unfinished work print being officially released like this. Maybe as a bonus feature, but again it would reflect poorly on the studio and invite unwanted comparisons. You just don't add in unfinished scenes with incomplete VFX and no score to a finished film. Like I said early, the only hope we have of seeing the cut footage is as deleted scenes.

I can understand the Cyborg faceplate, if he's going to be flying at great speeds and high altitudes, it makes sense that he'd need something to protect his face.

It doesn't work visually, though.

In the final fight in Wonder Woman, all she did in terms of flight was levitate.

I certainly wouldn't want it there all the time, you need to give him a human face and the actor a chance to express. But I'm fine with it for now and then when it makes sense: certain action scenes, flying, going underwater, in space etc

I don't think it looks bad, and I think the dark grey and single bright red eye is different enough from Deadshot, particularly since he rarely wore the mask in SS.

The only people I blame for the whole Superman mustache thing is Joss and the WB. Because according to rumors there was no reason for them to have to reshoot any of Cavil's scene because they were the exact same and longer. So not only did they cut a lot of Lois, Clark and Martha scenes they reshot them where they were hardly in the movie. That's what I don't approve of that they went through all of this just to have Superman smile throughout the entire movie.

If Zack had handpicked Whedon whilst having a gun to his head, more like. Whedon seems more like a studio pick. I don't have anything against Whedon personally, but I'd rather someone more suited to Zack's style had completed the trilogy.

I'm not a huge fan of his and whether he'd have wanted too, but given the studio contact he'd had already, Ayer is closer to Snyder in his skillset and work atheistic than Whedon was/is.

I don't get what was screened in the early screenings that got apparently negative reactions though. Was it Snyder's cut? And then they did more extensive reshoots?

Well according to rumors again it was that the movie heavily focused on the story and took a little to long to get to the action. It also had a lighter but still serious tone (mainly with the Batman and Cyborg arc's and Lois and Martha to some degree). It also had setup's for the spin off movies that were now in flux as well. Also they felt that Cavil didn't smile enough. So they cut it all out to make it a straight up action movie and cut it to move the story along much faster and make it much lighter and add more jokes.

apparently Zack's cut was only screened internally. No audience screenings

Man this is why I ****ing hate test screenings.

Also _Superman_, about what you said, I wonder if THIS is why KT mandated the 2 hour runtime, to get to the action faster or to get more money.

posted this in the cyborg thread but I'll say it again here. Apparently Cyborg was supposed to kill his own mother in the Snyder cut. Unintentionally of course
