Wasn't there a rumor going around that suggested Snyder's version of the film was completely unwatchable? The one before Whedon and the reshoots...

I think Snyder was the wrong person to spearhead the DCEU and now WB has to deal with the consequences of that choice.

It’s like when The Good Dinosaur underperformed for Pixar, Disney didn’t stop production on all Pixar’s films, they took it on the chin and moved forward. WB is lucky Wonder Woman made so much money and they had a huge hit with It and Dunkirk was very successful as well, it’s clear that the Snyder era is over and that solo DC films is what they’re focusing on

WB already interfered with the JL script once the reception to BvS came out (BvS being the movie they butchered in editing.) They panicked and tried to lighten the script even though JL was already in production.

Things I believe will happen after the JL fallout

- Ben Affleck is done at WB, including his production deal. WB will probably give it to some other studio like Sony.

- Zack is done directing wise and so is his production deal. The war movie he's making won't happen

- A lot of top execs will be fired by January, wouldn't be surprised if Time Warner's CEO gets heads rolling before he leaves. Tsujihara will be the first person gone.

Pixar is in a far better state critically and commercially than DCEU. It's not even remotely comparable.

It wouldn't have made much of a difference. The ultimate cut is a poor movie. It's just a bit more coherent than the TC. Releasing it in theaters would've been suicide for WB.

Snyder and his editor edited the film themselves. Warners might have mandated it, but those two made it incoherent. A better question might be why Warners allowed him to shoot a three hour R-rated script in the first place.

Look, I have criticised Snyder myself and not like parts of what he has done to DC, but I don't like that he is getting all the blame when WB is highly at fault as well.
