You are right. North and South America are a completely different case from Asia. I remember a report stating Spider-Man, Batman and Wonder Woman are the highest selling heroes, merchandise wise. DC's superhero girls has become a billion dollar franchise for DC and is predicted to rival Disney princesses soon... Teen Titans is also really popular and the Arrowverse has become a billion dollar franchise as well...

As for brands, yeah Marvel has done a great job of building up their name! Most casuals seem to think all superheroes belong to Marvel lol

It's a shame that DC seems to be struggling in the movie department (aside from Wonder Woman)! Sub 100m for JL is embarassing!

Spider-Man is far and away the biggest merchandise seller, then Batman followed by Avengers.

I was talking moreso recent numbers. Those charts are from 2014, before Superhero Girls and the DCEU films. I wouldn't doubt Spider-Man is still up there though.

Yeah, worldwide his S-diamond is a lot more marketable but it is almost detached from the character and more a shorthand for superman, lowercase S.
Confront it with Spidey's or Batman's insignias, or Cap's shield or the Ark Reactor, those clearly represent their characters in the collective imagination.

I am convinced that Supes could be as relevant as Cap, just give him the movie he deserves, dammit.

Yeah, I feel like Cap is maybe taking Superman's spot in popular culture as the "heroic ideal" for Superheroes. The Apple Pie hero.

It;s ironic because people thought Cap would have a lot of trouble translating to international audiences because of anti-American attitudes. But he works. Helps that Cap isn't shown as a jingoistic character, despite the name and motif.

I'm more a Marvel fan (Italy grown) than DC's but damn it I want my Distinguished Competition fix also! :cmad:
I feel for DC life long fans, I want them to have the same fun and child-trip I'm having with the MCU.

Worldwide it goes more like:
Spider-Man >>> Batman > Iron Man > Cap > Hulk > not yet WW
I'm not saying this proves anything other than savvines in IP management.

Deadline revised at 93.5 million:

Writethru of 2ND UPDATE, Friday night: Refresh for chart Justice League‘s Friday, coming off a solid $13 million Thursday, is coming in at the high end from where we saw it around midday Friday with $38.4M, however, Warner Bros./DC’s superhero ensemble is falling well short of $100M with an industry estimate of $93.5M over three-days, quite far from tracking’s $110M-$120M projection. How dismal is this?

Yup, sub-95 it looks like.

How is it every 10 minutes I come in here the number keeps going down? Lol

Anywho... Heads will roll at WB if this comes to pass.

We should pray JL makes enough money for it to profitable fir WB to make more CB movies but not a lot for them to continue with how they're producing the movies. After all the more diverse the CBM genre is the more we fans enjoy.

JL better catch that SS internal multiplier and pull out a Strange-level OW.

Imagine the headlines.

If that Friday number doesn't rise in actuals, we're looking at high 80s/low 90s.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.1, a film with a cast of absolute nobodies, is going to outperform this.

I really wanted a Justice League 2....

So the choice to cut and hack away the movie into 2 hrs runtime to get more showings per day is backfiring.

Delicious.

Trying to turn the movie into something it wasn't designed to be was a terrible idea. Let it be dark -- make the future movies different if you want but changing this movie was wrong. Also I think if we get an extended cut -- it will have more Whedon footage and not more Snyder footage.
