Nah, Narcissus...I'm not about this whole dynamic where you take lame shots at me, and then every once in a while, you want to have a civil conversation.

You don't think his schtick is just oh so cute? lawd :o

Yeah, great films change things surprisingly quickly.

Watch it happen with the FF in about five years or so. I hope WB will have made some forward movement on a Superman film by then, but I wouldn't be surprised either way.

I think they make another Superman film before then, just don't know if that is a reboot or what.

I just remembered the people who were signing a petition to go cast negative fan reviews on Black Panther at Rotten Tomatoes in "revenge" for the bad reviews that Justice League got. I wonder what they think of the fact that Black Panther ended up making more money domestically in four days than Justice League made in its entire run?

The critics are too scared to give it bad reviews because of SJWs. People are held at gunpoint by SJWs to go see Black Panther. Otherwise they get branded as racists. Literally.

Outside of the MOS pre-release hype, I feel like the last time Superman as a solo property instilled real confidence was during the early 2000s, when Abrams' Flyby was being developed, after the attempts at adapting the "Death" storyline from the 90s fell by the wayside and they started thinking about a rebooted origin, sexy, young and colorful, in the vein of Raimi's Spider-Man. It's like they saw the potential mass appeal beyond the death gimmick, to the point where they chose it over the Batman/Superman they had been planning up to that point.

I can’t tell if this is sarcasm or not.

TDKT kept a lot of people from seeing just how clueless WB has been all this time. I'm glad they're finally getting the kick in the teeth they deserve. Hopefully they'll course correct and make a plan. You know, like an actual plan, and not just the usual posturing and flailing about.

Dark Knight Trilogy was a double edged sword for them. Made them tons of money and recognition, but all they learned was that every hero needs to be dark like Batman.

Yeah. 2 1/2 great movies, but we were saddled with a bleak and depressing Superman because of it.

It's sarcasm because certain people spent the last year saying Wonder Woman only got good reviews because critics are afraid of SJWs, and now they're saying the same nonsense about Black Panther.

There's been a shift in the superhero landscape over the last few years where second and even third tier characters have started to peak more interest than the icons of the genre. Batman I think will always been have an audience, and I think Wonder Woman has the potential to have staying power. I genuinely fear for the future of that Superman however. Being iconic is not enough anymore, the values that he stands for a being seen in bunch of other characters.

Many people have complained of issues with SR & MoS which are down to execution and could have been avoided, not just intrinsic things about the character that don't work in the modern era. I think we'll only know the above for sure when Superman has a new film as good as Deadpool and Black Panther and still fails to do well.

We've seen with Batman that he isn't automatically popular. Make a TDK and you break records. Make a B&R and you bring all the dominoes down. Execution is king for me as all of these characters we talk about have proved their mettle over decades of comics and can be done well even today in the right hands IMO.

I think it’s also just the baggage that comes with being known. We know Superman’s origin as well Batman. Yet they keep insisting on showing us. With new heroes like BP, Guardians, or even WW, there’s a newness there that general audiences don’t come in with preconceived notions.

I really hope so, and even more so with X-Men. Both franchises have a lot of baggage so I think this is a different kind of challenge for Feige but these are crucially important to get right for me.

Lmao. You can't blame the dark knight for Snyder's inability to grasp superman.

This is madness.

We can blame him for making WB think that approach was the best way to differentiate themselves from the rest of the CBM landscape. It's not his fault, but WB clearly learned the wrong lessons from his trilogy.

You can make a dark superman movie. As long As superman himself remains light. Snyder's superman is an edgy bore.

I personally had at least 5 of those frellers with a gun to my back and they held my family hostage in order to MAKE me buy a ticket.

Oh, by the way, I really liked it....really....I did....now will you please let my family come home? I even paid for parking and I hate doing that. And, I'm not a racist. I even have a friend from high school who is black.

Don't even get me started about the scared critics and the ones who get paid.....

But Bond didn't really start making serious box office money until the last 2 films (Skyfall did make $1.1B WW) , and the Star Trek movies even with the reboots weren't ever top grossing movies either.

Bond was a HUGE moneymaker back in the 60s, but had not been what it once was in decades, although still successful. But it isn't like Bond was never gigantic. Both Goldfinger and Thunderball did over $600 million domestic adjusted for inflation and Bond was a gigantic merchandise machine back then. It was the Star Wars of the 60s.

Star Trek never really was that big, true.

I forgot to take inflation into account.

Yes I can, because it's a fact. Years ago Warner Bros. execs discussed the future of DC movies, and they declared that The Dark Knight Trilogy was a success because of how dark it was, therefore future DC movies would all be dark.

I don't know. In an era where characters like Deadpool, Black Panther and Doctor Strange are becoming household names something drastic has to be done with Superman in order for him to remain relevant I feel. I think JL showed part of the problem in that he's overpowered.

Yup. People tend to forget to adjust for inflation when talking about old films. Connery's Bond was king back in the day. Even beyond that, Moonraker made a surprising amount of cash due to them jumping on the Star Wars bandwagon.

Bond was huge in Connery's day. It was probably the first real blockbuster franchise.

Connery's Bond put up hugely impressive numbers. Domestically, it seems from Goldeneye onward they've been at a steady range of 200-250 with Skyfall being the exception.
