Justice League script review

You're lucky.
Yeah for now...
Prolly some die hard fanboy of another or other franchises sent it in, in hopes of derailing it. Thats the only reason I can think of as to why someone would have sent in such a stinker.
Pretty twisted and sad if thats the case.:csad:

EDIT: whats even sadder is that to an extent the ploy worked. most of us, me included, were ready to break out the pitchforks and torches...from now on I will believe nothing about this film unless its straight from W.B.
This sort of thing has been going on for a long time. Not just on JLA.

On X-Men 3 all kinds of people claimed to have inside knowledge. And a lot of members here (me included) bought into that crap.:(

:( Even the best of us make mistakes.

Its so true.

Man i just wish Wb would reveal more info on this project already lol.

well, robert was just reporting it, I think moviehole reported it first??
anyway, I'm sure he is just as anxious as the rest of us for some good news.

All the fake script review nonsense passed me by.I find it sad that people are trying to dupe websites like this.:o
Have you met Motown Marvel? :p ;)

Thank GOODNESS this was all a hoax. I'm still a bit concerned about the casting - I have zero interest in seeing Sky High 2 or Friday Night Teen Titans - but the original script descriptions still have me ecstatic. I think other studios may be starting to worry, which is funny to see.

Anyhoo, I'm holding my breath and keeping my fingers crossed they can pull this sucker off.

I'm glad that script is bogus. Because a JL film is something I'm really lookin' forward to. And I want the film to be amazing...

I'm still confused as to why Sanchez was so worried. Weeks ago he said he the JL script was one of the best superhero scripts out there. Then this comes in and he starts to panic....So has he read the script or not?

That question was asked right on IESB. Not sure if it was answered.

Maybe Sanchez is full of...

Honestly, how many times is he going to post B.S. rumors and then have to retract them? I think the best thing to do is not believe anything that gets posted on that website about Justice League.

An announcement from Warner Bros. regarding the cast will be forthcoming. Until then, I'm remaining patient.

i think the whole casting young has got everyone's nuts in the zippers which in all fairness makes sense given the audition choices we've heard about have been just absolutely bloody terrible....

So you are aboard even without Tom.
As of right now, sure. We still don't know who the cast will be. I freaked out over that dumb script hoax last night, 'cause that really put a huge nail in the coffin of my excitement level, but I'm relieved to learn it was bogus. That said, we're totally back to the cast making or breaking the film.

They can't cast a bunch of kids - even if they're not technically kids. The actors need to have a gravitas behind them that goes deeper than the costume. It's okay if one or two characters are portrayed young, but the big three (Supes, Bats and WW) HAVE to come off solid. They have to be unique and special. Superman has to be wise and nobel with an instinctual air of leadership and a charismatic, commanding presence; Batman needs to be tough as nails and not have an ounce of "wimp" to his look or demeanor; and WW should be uniquely beautiful, tall and formidable. I get NONE of those impressions from the photos of the actors screen testing last weekend. Nothing. Nada. So that is where my concern is right now.

Otherwise... Day-um! Everything else seems to be too good to be true. And I really do have to reiterate how relieved I am that last night's script hoax was just that. OMG... I was so depressed after that. But hey, we're back in the saddle again, so I'm good. Also, I'm totally stoked about a few things going on with SV, Welling and the big picture, so I woke up this morning with a smile. It's a great time to be a Superman fan. :D

Amazing how things can change overnight, huh?

I really like your thoughts on how the big three should be played out and concur totally on that! And that's kind of why I think they still cast unkowns for the most part! I think when true cast list hits that we are all going to do a "Who the Hell is that?" Then we will just have to wait to see a teaser or the first image of them in costume! Which I hope they do as a side line up photo shot, like they do on the comics with them looking up and away!

Very good. I am glad. I freaked about the casting and then about the script. I should have known things weren't adding up. What can you do?

I have watched every episode of Smallville this year and my girlfriend and I are really into it.

To his defense he didn't come up with it, Moviehole did. He has been right most of the time, so give the guy a break...

tho phir Kashmir chalo

one of the massive fight scenes happens in Kashmir??? that's crazy... why go into that political hot bed

I still don't understand how this is considered a "rush" project.

Let's look at the timeline:

Feb. 2007 - The Mulrooneys turn in their first draft of the script.
Aug. 2007 - Casting begins
Sep. 2007 - George Miller is confirmed as the director, a production crew is named and brought on board
Oct./Nov. 2007 - Cast should be announced
Feb. 2008 - Principle filming begins
Summer 2009 - JLA arrives in theaters

To me, that looks like a standard timeline for a big budget tentpole. And didn't Batman Begins and Superman Returns follow similar time frames? I remember the script info and Nolan's involvement broke in 2003, and Bale was cast in Sept of that year. A year and a half later, BB hits theaters in June 2005. Same thing with SR. Singer was attached around August '04 and Routh was cast that following October and SR came out a year and a half later in 2006.

So tell me again, how is JL being "rushed?"
I wish everyone would realize this, its not being rushed! Its going to be ok! and by bale not being in JL, Nolan's franchise will not be affected. the script was fake adn im glad! (not that i believed it)

Bit more from IESB as regards to the fake/alledged JL script.....

Hello everyone! I hardly ever post on the forums, I just don’t have the time but Robert told me you guys were begging for some more information about the alleged JLA script floating around.

Now don’t get all huffy but Robert and I agreed that he would not be sending the pdf file out to anyone. There is still some debate over whether it’s “real” or not. I know Robert thinks it’s totally fake, which honestly I hope to God it is because it’s a real let down for me, but I am still holding out on my opinion of its authenticity, I will wait for the final verdict before I make any announcements.

I know it completely conflicts with what we have been told thus far and conflicts with the script that got out a month back, but, George “Happy Feet” Miller is on board now and if he’s got a different villain in mind, or a different direction he wanted the film and its sequels to go, he could have very well asked for a page one rewrite. I’m just saying it’s possible, so no comment from me yet.

However, I have done a write up of the story details to share with you all in case you wanted more info. I tried to be detailed but couldn’t help add a couple quips due to the blatant stupidity of some plot points.

Here you go –

So what happened? These writers googled Justice League, read a synopsis of Crisis on Earth Three (plus some elements of Crisis of Infinite Earths) and checked out the Wikipedia page of the Maxwell Lord/OMAC storyline and decided to throw these two together and come up with this…this…fodder?!

The script opens with some notes about using Motion Capture during the opening scenes of the film (they should, this feels worse than ‘70’s Super Friends cheesy), then into a combination of traditional shooting and CGI.

We start the film with an introduction to John Stewart AKA Green Lantern. He’s flying a super sonic jet. Oooh, he’s cool…

He soon receives a message that he’s needed urgently and puts the jet on auto-pilot to circle the planet a few times. He is surrounded by a bubble of green and lo and behold out pops Green Lantern.

His mission is to help the crew of a nuclear sub that has gone awry.
The commander describes a giant monster with many arms, Green Lantern’s only question, “Was he yellow?” I’m kidding, he didn’t ask that but there is a big monster with many arms described.

After evacuating the crew and failing to stop the nuclear leak with a green band, John wraps the whole sub in a green glow and drags it into space where is blows up.

He returns to the crew. Everything is A-OK!

We cut to the coastline and a lighthouse. A giant octopus or LEVIATHAN as the story calls it has come here through a wormhole in the sky and has decided the lighthouse looks like a good lunch, he decides to start crushing it.

Aquaman to the rescue!

But wait, there is more at stake then there seems, Aquaman’s father is in the lighthouse! Can you believe it! (Obviously we are seeing the Silver Age origin version of Aquaman here)

After Aquaman fails to stop the LEVIATHAN by himself, he goes back in the ocean for reinforcements, an army of whales.

But upon his return he is too late, the LEVIATHAN is gone and only a crushed lighthouse remains. Hmmm, eerie…

Intro for Wonder Woman.

Cut to two beautiful women duking it out. Sweat and big boobs writhing around what more could you ask for? Wonder Woman is sword fighting another Amazonian.

Suddenly a shadow overtakes them as they see a giant orb shooting blue (lasers?) beams in the sky. Luckily, Superman (coincidence) is there fighting this strange being.

Using an old sunk submarine as cover, Superman shields himself from the blue beams and together with Wonder Woman defeats the floating orb (where are the Ghost Hunters when you need them? I hear they are experts on floating orbs).

The orb hits the ground but quickly disappears.

Jump to Cleveland. Intro of The Flash.

I love the Flash, he’s a great character, cocky, funny and still gets the job done. He’s one of my favorite DC characters, second only to Booster Gold. Go ahead, laugh all you want, he’s the bomb.

Here we find Flash battling Trickster who is using Teddy Bear bombs.

Flash quickly takes down Trickster. As he’s giving his interviews to the news corp, something blurry passes by, it’s so fast even Flash can barely see it. Hmm, again, odd.

Cut to a lab, somewhere unknown.

Introduction of Maxwell Lord.

Using RED-EYE, Lord uses his technology to bring a group of superbeings to Earth. Not just any group of superbeings, it’s Ultraman, Superwoman, Owlman, Johnny Quick and Power Ring. Yes, it’s the introduction of the Crime Syndicate.

I have to stop here a sec. In the notes of the script it says these are the Crime Syndicate soon to be the OMAC squad. WTF?! On with the details…

They are mad as hell and they aren’t gonna take it anymore!
Lord informs them that there is good in this world to vanquish and there’s no time like the present.

Cut to the Hall of Justice IN SPACE! (You have to say that like “Pigs in Space” for that to be funny) Another note in the script says this will be based on the designs of the animated series not the comics. Well then why not just call it the Watchtower like in the series, that would make sense to me…

Batman and Wonder Woman are hard at work installing equipment (don’t they have people for that?)

A message from RED-EYE appears on Batman’s screen but he quickly changes it so no other eyes catch it.

Then Flash pops up on the monitor. He is ready to perform the equipment test.

Batman informs us here that everything is being funded by Wayne Industries.

As Flash is running around the world performing the equipment check, cut to Maxwell Lord as he continues to describe his evil plan, just as every good supervillain does.

End scene with devilish laughter, bwahaha, bwahaha….

Cut back to the Watchtower, I mean Hall of Justice IN SPACE!

Alarms are going off left and right. What could it be?

The matter transporter is transporting some matter into the space station. It’s J’ONN J’ONZZ, heavens to murgatroyd!

The heroes are confused, who is this strange green figure who has just invaded their space station? Superman attacks (yeah that’s smart) and misses, Wonder Woman follows and fails as well.

Batman approaches, J’ONN informs the group that their world is coming to an end and he’s got the info on how to stop it. Dun, dun, daaaa…

Start Justice League music here…Title sequence ensues.

Robert Sanchez said:
FYI, just in case you all wondered, all this happens in the first 14 pages of the script even before the title sequence.

I'm guessing it's a fan script. It's not a screenwriter's call to describe what "design" a floating space station will be based on. That's up to the director and the set designers and effects teams.

Again though, aside from the CSA showing up and a completely shallow portrayal of Max Lord, it doesn't sound THAT bad storywise. Rushed as heck, which is what makes me think it's fake, but...

I think it's more along the lines that he's so damn excited about this project that he's jumping the gun. He seems genuinely surprised people here at SHH are taking exception with him doing so.

I admit I was taken by this. Mostly because I have been primed by WB's history of comic films.
