Really don't see how this is a 'remake' when you consider that they changed the characters, locale and story.

Seriously its becoming very clear that calling it a Karate Kid remake is simply for marketing purposes as it has zero similarities to the original other than the teacher/student riff...

It actually didn't look as bad as I expected. Was this the same Smith kid from The Day The Earth Stood Still? He seems far less strangle-able lol I'll probably see this eventually, though not in theaters.

What the hell happened to Jackie Chan, man? It's like Chris Tucker infected him with mediocrity.

This looks better than his Babysitting sPy film coming out next month. Better to follow in Mr. Miyagi's footsteps than Vin Diesel's Pacifier.

Story is exactly the same. Kid moves away from hometown to new place where he gets picked on and beaten up but meets a girl who likes him and a janitor who trains him in martial arts to defend himself leading to a competition in the end.

It's sheer lack of Chuck Norris means it doesn't stand a chance of being better than Sidekicks!

I disagree, this looks far more horrible.

I like the apparent change in the location and characters, but the story is the same and so is the outcome.

But sorry, with the fact that all of the special effects needed just for the trailer to be interesting to the audience shows me that there is no substance to the entire film itself. Plus all of the text in this one tries to make you feel stupid. If you want to watch Karate Kid, rent it.

I think this looks more like an objectively awful film though, which is saying something.

This film looks far worse then I imagined. Just awful

It's all about Team LaRusso the true badasses. :o

The movie looks pretty meh to me but thats how I expected it to look so whocares? My neices and nephews will probably want to see it or not, I honestly won't know until they see the trailer and tell me.

Uh, yeah, unless I missed something, this was surprisingly awesome. It was funny, it had real Kung Fu, and Jackie Chan at his best. The production values are substantial, the actors and story are proven and the martial arts (even by the ten year old kid) look great... and so the worst thing this movie could have against it is bad dialogue, if that.

It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but this is right up my alley, and if this trailer is any indication, I'm going to enjoy it thoroughly, much more than any other film with a ten year old protagonist that's ever been made.

On the title, no biggie, most of the masses think all martial arts is "Karate" anyway. I think it'd be awesome if there was a running gag in the film of characters correcting other characters that they are doing Kung Fu, not Karate (ie, Jackie corrects Jaden when they first start training, Jaden corrects his mom during the second act mishap, and his mom corrects a random stranger in the crowd during the climactic match).

I thought it looked pretty lame, but then again I thought the original Karate Kid was pretty lame too.

I didn't think it looked awful either and none of the actors are bad at their jobs.

At worse I think that the movie is going to be medicore and at best I think that the movie is going to be slightly above average.

I don't see the point of a remake either but I think people on messageboards are way overracting to this film. I really dug the original too but it's not some grand masterwork.
