Let's just say things worked out for the best... :wow:

Keanu Reeves has revealed that he would love to have taken on the role of comic book character Wolverine.

The actor, who played Vertigo Comics' hero Constantine in a movie adaptation, admitted that he was jealous when the part of the X-Men character went to Hugh Jackman.

"I had a little actor envy when Hugh Jackman got to play Wolverine and I didn't. The claws are cool and I liked his fortitude and honour," he told Metro.

Reeves also revealed that he has been a fan of superhero stories throughout his life, saying: "As a kid I loved comic books. I started at summer camp reading Richie Rich and Archie.

"Later I got into [writer] Frank Miller and loved The Dark Knight Returns and Alan Moore's Watchmen. Then I became interested in Japanese anime."

Ok, I know actors looking for a part in a comic book movie like to bs about being big comic fans and all, but thats a really halfassed effort. It's like he just used amazon's "people who purchased *blank* also bought *blank*" section.

Except for I doubt he was actually looking for a comic book role. Sure he got Constantine, but if this quote was recent... eh.

As for him wanting to play Wolverine, I think he knows he looks nothing like the part, nor fits it. I think he just means he was jealous of Hugh because he liked the character, and, had he had the looks/voice/etc. for the part, I am sure he would have wanted to tackle the character.

there's only one wolverine and it's dougary scott.

If I was Dougary Scott I would be real bitter that I missed the chance to play a character with a huge franchise and fanbase behind it because of some lame ass rent a brit villain role in MI:2 which no one remembers.

the worst thing is i kept seeing glimpses of how cool his wolverine would have been in MI:2

bitter indeed.

Funny thing is (although i don't know about his height), he would have made an awesome sabretooth in the new one.

i think dougary and jackman could have had some real decent chemistry. dougary does do a very good villain.

Having the Wolverine trailer released along with a movie of him, is the closest Keanu will be from Wolverine; he should be excited.

Correctamundo.

And what the hell is people's beef with Keanue talking about the comics he liked to read? My God, they're the same comics we've all read. They're the essentials for God's sake.

Haha same man. I was drinking when i first read the post and i almost spit it all out onto my laptop. I would of sued Keanu after that.

And Robert Pattinson said he would have liked to play Gambit
I have this image in my head of Keanu-Wolverine and Robert-Gambit and it's...

SCARY!:shock

Omg, and Will I Am as john wraith! HA... wait... Will I Am IS John Wraith!!!

I could just see it. "Whoa...Bub!"

The was a rumour that Keanu Reaves wanted the role back in 1999 before anyone was cast. There used to be a site that had all the casting rumours from back then but I think it's disappeared (canadian site that used to be abbreviated to CA). AICN may still have some traces.

I think Dougary would make a good Sebastian Shaw

he can indeed carry off that air of arrogance and sophistication and does indeed have presence when he enters a room.

you might be onto something for that.

I remember that site...corona.bc.ca/comingattractions. It was awesome and a lot better than AICN. I think it got merged with Cinescape.
