:woot:

I know I'm going to get bashed for this one but has anybody seen the trailer for "The Wrestler" Mickey Rourke is pumped up, and with the long hair...

I know he has some mileage and is up there in age, but damn with a little makeup...

Simply put, Marvel want someone younger for Thor; no makeup needed if they actually cast someone the required age.

To be honest though - If Marvel was to go with an older, more 'griselled' Thor; Vladimir Kulich would surely be the top pic.

Rourke's my choice for Lobo, anyways.

Rourke's face is seriously ****ed up. THor is supposed to be something of a pretty-boy. So no.

Exactly Chewy; the whole 'pretty-boy' aspect of Thor's look is something a few folk on here have seemingly been overlooking when making casting choices.

Rourke as Thor would mean a very old Odin because Roarke has not aged well at all. And I agree that Thor should be good looking. I don't think he needs to have feminine pretty boy looks, though. He could get away with having masculine good looks.

It's not that he hasn't aged well - it's all the plastic surgery. He looks ridiculous and he has for about 15 years now.

I know. I just didn't want to get into it too much. Bottom line he doesn't look the part facially. It's aged his skin & he looks weird.

The bad plastic surgery was more recent than that I thought. I though his boxing career screwed his face up a la Domino and Once Upon a Time in Mexico

Jackie Stallone's had better plastic surgery than Rourke.

Hell, Jacqueline Wildenstein's had better surgery than Rourke.

He's had surgery for a few years now. Chin & cheek implants etc... He looks to have gotten rid of them & now his face is settling. This is probably the best he's looked in a while & it ain't good. Now he looks odd & older than his age. It's a real shame.

:huh: The best?

He didnt look awful in Domino, just older. He looks way worse now.

Even if Rourke did look youthful, i couldnt see him step into Thors shoes. Hes an inner city tough guy. It would be like asking Jason Statham to do Shakespeare.

Yikes - Mickey needs to start listening to Patrick Bateman.

I know it's old news,but I just found out that JMS is working on the script as well.That's awesome.

Well I'm over the Mickey Rourke thing, I don't know what came over me... bad chinese take-out or somptin.

Hope we get some news soon though, the clocks ticking and I imagine Thor would need some healthy cg time.

Jason Lewis with a bit of bulking up?

No Lewis;

As has been said many, many times on the Cap casting thread;

We want someone who can actually act to the standard required. I'd imagine given his background that Branagh would be thinking the same thing.

Looking at the casting I could see Branagh going with a stage actor.
