Kenneth Branagh to direct Thor

Very interesting video - it would seem all bets are off in terms of casting the lead;

-Kinda flies in the face of the 'inside knowledge' proclaimed by certain posters on here..... ;)

Perhaps now is a good time to send Alexanders resume and pics to Branagh :D

^ I think it's too late. I heard from a reliable source that Terrence Stamp will be playing the lead.

Funnilly enough - I'd heard that too; I cant reveal my source though.

Looks like this movie is in good hands.

Good find.

Wow, what a terrible interviewer. Clearly Branagh is open to discussing Thor, but is limited to what little has been done on the film. So the interviewer asks a good question and then encourages the conversation to degenerate into lame jokes?

I can think of several questions that Branagh would have been able to answer that would have been significantly more interesting and informative:

What is the tone of the film? Have you spoken with Favreau or any of the other Marvel directors? How did you become involved in the project? What drew you to this project? What were your thoughts on the Iron Man and Incredible Hulk films? Were you/are you a comic fan?

That's all just off the top of my head. This interviewer had a brilliant opportunity for an EXCLUSIVE and he crapped the bed! Pathetic!

I don't think the interviewer crapped out. The conversation about Thor was out of place & he managed to sneak in a couple of questions. To continue an in depth discussion would have been rude to TS. That's why the jokes incorporated TS in them.

It needn't have been an in-depth interview, but a legitimate follow up question or two wouldn't have been out of place. It really seems like Branagh WANTS to talk about this film. That's a good thing!

i understand what u r saying aztec, but k.b. did a great job of re-directing the topic back to his fellow actor. we all want some info to how k.b. feels and where he will take thor....guess we have to sit back and wait til feb to get a real idea once thor is cast.

Yeah... I think what's being missed here is what KB actually said... "presenting a different kind of world". That may mean that they are planning to do an era laden film... maybe detail his banishment. I don't know what it has to do or lead up to the Avengers(which may be how he regains favor with Odin), and Loki's role. Hell I don't know; but, I just thought that was an interesting statement.

I just read a proposed script about Thor I don't know if it is the official one or not. Coming in I thought a movie about Thor could not be good if it was based in magic and fantasy without have solid ground in reality and science. After reading the entire script my mind has been changed.
The script was not perfect first off the way its written is way more violent and bloody then I think Marvel is comfortable with. Second there is a hole in the story but it was a good story that kept my attention throughout. I don't wanna talk to much about the content of the story cause if it is an official script I'd hate to ruin it for all of you. I myself am a huge fan of Thor and when I saw the script I could help but get a peek. Then after my peek I couldn't put it down.
If Marvel can comes with a story that is similar mark my words The Mighty Thor will crush all comers in 2010.

What's the date on it? It's probably the same one one that's been floating around here.

I agree that a lot of the violence is going to not make it on the screen, as much as I would love to see THOR cutting some people in half :D

And what plot hole are you referring to? (Use spoiler tags in your answer for other peoples' sake)

Cutting people in half? I'd rather see Thor bludgeoning a giants head in using Mjolnir, personally. :oldrazz:

It's while he's human, during his banishment. He kills a serpent with Mjolnir and he fights some frost giants with a wooden (I think it's wooden) hammer at the beginning and without any hammer at the end

The date is 4-4-07

^ Yup, that's the one. So what's the plot hole you're referring to?

Yeah sounds alot like the one I read the hole I'm refering too is the Avengers there is no connection to the Avengers. I think an easy way to correct it is when he has a vision of what he would become if he had not changed he could have a vision of the future as well. Then at the End he could choose to give up everything so that he could go the future of Midgard to save it. You could have a woman giving birth in the devlivery room but has a still born baby and Odin could give the baby Thor's soul.

Ah, I see what you mean. Although I think

Loki hiding out on Earth with Karnilla in the final scene

is sort of going to be the "tie in" to the Avengers.

No connection to Avengers isnt a plot hole.

Its a hole to me cause first Thor 2010, Avengers 2011. If he just continues to live from the Ancient Norse time to present day on the same mission that the script ends on. What has he be doing this whole time, through WW1, WW2, and all other current wars? Why didn't he protect? He would then going back on his word to a dying Eric.
