Who's a Kevin Smith fan here? With Zack and Miri, Red State and Kev's other projects on the horizon, this is a thread for all us Askewniverse-er's out there.

    Snootch to the nootch!

I can't claim to be a fan. I dislike 90% of his movies as well as his awful crude humor.

Dogma was decent, and many funny parts in Jay and Silent Bob, but act 3 just completely ruined it. I saw Clerks II, the nasty jokes, profanity, and ramblings was enough to make me never watch another Kevin Smith film ever again.

    lol, you got me here.

On Evening W/Kevin Smith 1, its made well known Smith does not like nor get along with Tim Burton... so it's more of a joke... I like TB too, just not as much as KS

Kevin Smith is a great writer. It's his directing skills that are lacking.

    Agreed.

However, I still enjoy his films. I'd have to say that Mallrats and Clerks II are my favs with Dogma right there behind them. I wasn't much of a fan of the other films, even though I do like bits and pieces of them. However if Mallrats didn't have Jason Lee in it, I'd probably sweep it under the rug.

I like both. And if you've seen Clerks, Chasing Amy, Dogma and Clerks II I think he shows that his humor is beyond just crude jokes (albeit that is all Mallrats and Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back were).

But I think he is a niche director who is REALLY good at what he does, but I'm happy to see him try and branch out and hopefully h'ell have more success than he did with Jersey Girl, then.

P.S. I like Tim Burton as well. :p

Loved the View Askew movies... Even though there are crude jokes, there are funny cool bits during these, like when Jay is having that erection with the Bon Jovi theme in J&SB strikes back, and the music volume goes down when S. Bob covers Jay's penis with the cup :)

I have to watch the Clerks cartoon yet...

I like Burton, I like Smith. But I am selective about my Burton, because I am not like those kids who has a Nightmare Before Christmas shirt/lunch-pale/life. I cannot wait for Sweeney Todd.

That, being said, Zack and Miri Make a Porno should be awesome. I think Rogen + Smith is good times.

Yea, I can't wait to the see the collaboration between Rogen and Smith. It should be great. However...don't you feel like this is a downgrade for Rogen? How do you go from Apatow to Smith. lol. :oldrazz: :o

Nope. No Jay and Bob, but Jason Mewes is one of the three leads... and JEff Anderson (Randal in CLERKS) is in it too... and most of his regulars will be...
