90210′s Jessica Stroup Joins The Following Season 2 — As Ryan Hardy's
Season 2 of The Following will be a bit of a family affair, with the addition of Jessica Stroup as Ryan Hardy’s niece.

As first reported by EW.com, the 90210 alumna has boarded Fox’s sophomore thriller in the series regular role of Max, an NYPD intel specialist who thus proves useful to her Uncle Ryan when the kin reconnect.

EW also reports that Tiffany Boone (Southland) will recur as a young woman who finds herself drawn into Joe Carroll’s cult.

Other recent castings for The Following, which returns at midseason, include NYPD Blue‘s James McDaniel, Boss‘ Connie Nielsen and Dexter baddie Sam Underwood.
90210 gets canned and now she's Kevin Bacon's niece? Way to trade up...

THE FOLLOWING
(Jan. 2014; Mondays, 9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT)

Heading into its intense, spellbinding second season, hit psychological thriller THE FOLLOWING will catch up with RYAN HARDY (Golden Globe Award winner and Emmy Award nominee Kevin Bacon) in the wake of a horrific new murder spree. The FBI calls on Ryan and MIKE WESTON (Shawn Ashmore) to speak with the lone survivor, LILY (Connie Nielsen, “Boss,” “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”), in order to help them solve the case. Ryan is reluctant to re-engage with the FBI, but finds a valuable ally in his niece, MAX (Jessica Stroup, “90210”), an NYPD cop working in the Intel Division. As the investigation proceeds, Ryan crosses paths with several complicated individuals, including LUKE (Sam Underwood, “Dexter”) and MANDY LANG (Tiffany Boone, “Beautiful Creatures”), which furthers his suspicion that JOE CARROLL's (James Purefoy) reign of terror is far from over.

From creator/executive producer Kevin Williamson (“The Vampire Diaries,” “Dawson’s Creek,” the “Scream” franchise), THE FOLLOWING was last season’s No. 1 new series and the No. 1 broadcast drama among Adults 18-49 in originals. The action began when notorious serial killer Joe Carroll escaped from death row. The FBI immediately called former agent Ryan Hardy to consult on the case, as he was the one responsible for Carroll’s capture in 2003, after Carroll murdered 14 female students on the Virginia college campus where he taught literature. Ryan, working closely with an FBI team, including Mike Weston and FBI Specialist DEBRA PARKER (Annie Parisse), uncovered that Carroll was covertly communicating with a network of followers while in prison. Challenged with the ever-growing web of murders orchestrated by the devious Carroll, the FBI quickly learned that they were up against not one, but a cult of killers.

As unimaginable events continued to unfold – including the kidnapping of Carroll’s son, JOEY MATTHEWS (newcomer Kyle Catlett), by followers EMMA HILL (Valorie Curry), JACOB WELLS (Nico Tortorella) and PAUL TORRES (Adan Canto); another prison escape by Carroll; and the plotted reunion of Carroll with ex-wife CLAIRE MATTHEWS (Natalie Zea) – the FBI’s investigations led them to uncover the depth of Carroll’s cult and the larger plan that Carroll had in store. The series’ initial season saw a number of casualties along the way, including Jacob’s emotional killing of Paul, the kidnapping of Agent Parker that ended in her death and Emma’s murder of Jacob.

Meanwhile, Ryan raced desperately to stop Carroll before his endgame reached its deadly conclusion. The explosive first season finale featured the highly anticipated face-off between Ryan and Carroll, ending in Carroll’s seemingly ultimate demise and leaving Ryan’s true love, Claire, hanging on for her life.

[BLACKOUT]So it seems Joe did survive, I knew he had when we saw the finale, it was quite obvious to me and yet people on here wouldnt have it.[/BLACKOUT]

Had a feeling he'd be after having no confirmation of his departure and him appearing at Comic-Con with the cast.

I couldn't keep up with this show after about episode 7 or 8 of the first season. It just got too stupid.

Which is too bad, because it was a great premise. I think it would have worked better as a mini-series or film though.

I had issues with some of it in the second half of the season, but it's nothing that can't be fixed. Marcos Siega said they're not doing the "Save the Kidnapped Boy" plot again this time around, or the compressed time frame, and they're doing more character building, which is a good start IMO.

It unraveled for me too, but not enough that I stopped watching it. I am hoping that like The Killing, this next season will be better. :)

I'm still debating whether or not to keep up with season 2. I have up on Revolution and didn't even watch the season finale. Might have to say screw The Following too. Especially with no more Joe. Just seems dumb to go on without him to me

Kevin Bacon is enough for me. I'll watch anything with him in it. :)

You gave up on Revolution when it started getting good. Season 2 is legit.
