Also remember we only have the PS3 data for America. THe PS3 has outsold the 360 in Europe by 33 percent during the same period and 33 percent comparative to the first year, and make sure to add the PS3 Japan tally.

Actually, you can just go to the Wikipedia pages for each respective console, which has numbers for all the countries including citations. There you have it.

I'm too lazy to do all that, but the PS3 was at 5.59 million sold in September according to a cited Wiki thing (I'm only doing 30 seconds of research ), so I'll go ahead and say it's probably at 6-7 million by now, at most. It's a year old this month. 360 was a year old this month last year, and had shipped 10+ million. They have 13+ sold right now, so I don't think it's too much of a stretch to assume the 360 was at 7-8 by last year. So by my totally scientific analysis, there's a decent sized gap.

Keep in mind, Microsofts financial statements use sold as 'sold to retailers', the Wii actually beat it to 10 million sold to customers, and Microsoft stuffed the retail cahnnel to meet the 10 million retail figure. The wiki, looking at it now, is unreliable considering it doesn't account for NPD data, just shipment figures. We have hard date on sell through for Europe, putting the PS3 at about a cumulative 300k deficit.

But regardless, I still think there's very likely to have been a million unit gap between the two console's first year performances based on the numbers I've seen, regardless of whether or not that 13+ figure is just consoles sitting in an EB.

You don't need the "Dec" figure to make an accurate comparison, they all turn 1 year old in November. And I doubt the PS3 sold more than a million in two months, which is what would be required for their first year sales to catch up and be comparable.
