I have not seen or heard ANY reaction to the death of Cyclops from anyone beyond this forum. No one at work commented on it, no one at any of the three different cinemas I've seen it at so far, not one single audible/visible reaction.
That's not to say that it was not badly handled - the lack of mourning over his death was the giveaway that he was being swept aside - but the mainstream moviegoer did not seem to notice it as a bad thing.
The only negative reaction or questions i heard was:
1) Why did Magneto have to move a bridge (which is obvious - he's a terrorist and terrorists destroy things to make their point; and also it was a symbolic gesture of removing bridges between humans and mutants. He makes grand gestures, as when in X1 he tore open the train rather than opening the door to get on board)
2) Why didn't they shoot the cure at Jean (which they DID - and she disintegrated it...)
3) Someone at work didn't like some of the dialogue (mostly Magneto's 'What have I done?')
I heard no one mention the logistical problems with travel (how Angel got to SF, how the Brotherhood got there, where the forest base was), I heard no one mention the absence of Cerebro, I heard no one mention the movie being short or with bad pacing. I heard no one saying it was terrible that Cyclops died.
And I've heard the reaction of dozens of people. As well as everyone in three cinemas, there are many, many people at work or in my social circle who has seen the movie.
Personally, i enjoyed the movie, and some extended scenes of dialogue, a better treatment of Cyclops and some clearing up of the logistical/travel issues (even as simple as showing us a feather or two on the floor of the X-jet as it travelled to SF) would have made it even better. As well as the Phoenix firebird aura in three key scenes - the emergence from the lake, the house scene, and the final scene of destructiveness. Plus that Storm tidal wave!
