Kingdom Come written by Mark Waid and painted by Alex Ross.

clearly. I just disagree that having a super power makes you a superhero.

I have the ability to manipulate the Magnetic spectrum to a degree, but it's to a degree so small all I use it for is changing the TV station without the remote. Am I a superhero?

Two points:

1) Are you for real?

2) If you're for real: cool.

Anyway, no, that would not make you a superhero. Changing the channel on the TV isn't exactly what I'd call heroic, is it. Super powers aren't my only factor, if you recall.

are super powers necessary to be a superhero?

Well....okay, here's how I see it:

You have a hero. Generally speaking, a hero has to be at least somewhat selfless, caring, and overall a good guy. A hero can be cheery, sullen, cynical, or even mentally unbalanced. Doesn't matter. As long as he/she is willing to risk aspects of his or her life (including his or her life itself) for the sake of others, and does so (or at the bare minimum atepmts to do so) at least semi regularly, then he/she could qualify as a hero.

A superhero, by my definition, is such an individual, but with super powers.

Yeah I think the countless lives that Iron Man has saved and the catastrophes that he has helped avert, all that is totally negated because he's posessed by some virus computer suit Extremis thing that's making him think illogically.

THAT WAS SARCASM

i don't know much about what's happenig to iron man right now, but i allways considered him a hero, and if he's possesed by something it doesn't make HIM a bad guy, it makes the thing that possesed him evil, but not him, he, tony stark is still a good guy

No he's not possessed, he's doing it of his own free will.
He's the reason so many heroes are dying, because of his damn Superhero registration act.

Personally, I think the definition of Superhero is to do heroic things in a silly costume.

Kingdom Come is the greatest SUperhero story, Comic, what ever, its bette rthan anything superhero, DC, Mavel, Vertigo whatever..

Yes better than Watchmen, V for Vendetta is far greater than watchmen, but to me thoughs aren't superhero books.

And **** DKR, that wasnt even that good. It was Okay.

Watchmen isnt a superhero book, it involves superheros, but its more of a mystery graphic novel

But V was better

If it has super heroes, it's kind of automatically a super hero story.

a superhero story involves a Superhero, or a group of superheros, (a developed superhero, not one made up for this particular story) taking on a Villan. Must have atleast one major climax fight

Not a murder mystery.

Superheros involved on a myrder mystery is a ****ing murder mystery. like Identity crisis would be in that catagory. no real climax fight at the end

Better that the Watchmen? Are ye daft, lad?
I can quite easily see how some may think KC is better than Watchmen.

Oh, yeah, what was that called again?

Personal taste, or something?

No. A superhero story is a story with a superhero. Watchmen was a superhero story.

That's just crazy talk. :o

i dunno, maybe i woulda liked watchme more if it wasnt so over hyped that i went into it expecting so much.

nothing can ever beat kingdom come for me because it single handedly got me into comics again after ten years.

I just finished reading this in the afternoon. Definitely a good read. The artwork was absolutely breathtaking, and well worth the price of admission alone. However, it didn't really hit me like I thought it would. I'm not really that big on the DC Universe or everyone in it, so I might have missed out on a lot of references throughout the book, but I just felt a little let down at the ending.

All the talk of the end of the world and nothing really ended. Just a bunch of dead superheroes and then Superman knocked up Wonder Woman, heh.

It was definitely an interesting story but I think some people around here give the story a bit too much credit. In my personal opinion Squadron Supreme is the better, with Watchmen coming in a close second. :o

I personally also feel KC is overrated, and MArvels and Kingdom Come are MUCH more powerful stories
