Amy Adams is different, she is biggest DC fan out there, I mean she loved Donner Superman movies, then she was in Smallville, then screen tested against Bale for BB, screen tested for SR, tried again for MOS. (there's more but I keep forgetting..)

She auditioned for McG's Superman project as well.

Yeah I know she's a big Superman and Lois Lane fan but that doesn't diminish the fact she's also a big time A-list actress. Who doesn't have to do these movies but she does it as well as her other movies.

That's the example I gave because both Jess and Amy are friend's and only a few years age difference. Loki882 made a much better case than me,.

Chastain is actually on twitter Sawyer.

Chastain would be a solid choice as Mera. A plus is that she has been in WB's films recently and was also the top choice of Jane in Tarzan.

She should be on WB's and Wan's radar for Mera in Aquaman.

I think the top choice has to be Jessica Chastain for Mera, she would be perfect for the role but after her I would be happy with any of these choices for Mera. I tried to keep in mind that WB likes to use people they have worked with before.

Charlize Theron- Just coming off a critically acclaimed movie for Warner Bros. and her stock is sky high right now.

Emilia Clarke- Has great chemistry with Momoa and both are great friends as well. Plus Game of Thrones!

Alex Daddario- Also coming off a hit with Warner Bros. in San Andreas and is seen by many as an actress with star potential.

Alicia Vikander- Another actress on the rise, she got high praise for her performance in Ex Machina and is about to join two high profile franchises, also she is in WB's Man from U.N.C.L.E.

Emily Blunt- It's Emily Blunt! No more reasons are needed.

Also Natalie Dormer would be cool too. :woot:

Good list...but I think Charlize needs to be in the Wonder Woman film as perahps Hippolyta or for sure the Cheetah!

I would add Rachel McAdams and Christina Hendricks to the list!

Nerds of color had an interesting article that maybe we shouldn't expect Mera to be comics accurate in terms of casting. Maybe this would be a perfect role for lupita to finally get into the superhero genre?

Or naome Harris? Imagine how great she would be for Mera!

Lupita ought to be Vixen- she's made for it.

Naome Harris would be great as Mera.

Paula Patton should be Catwoman, but that's another story.

I've thought about them casting an actress of color. I honestly wouldn't be surprised and I would fully welcome that type of casting.

OMG Regwec, I love Naomie Harris. She would be great.

Redheads are more of a minority in CBMs than black actors. :o

Eddie Redmayne for Bronze Tiger.

Maggie Q

Yes please :hmr:

That's a GREAT look for Mera. I'm actually curious to see where they go with her. Will they make her non-White as well in order to match Mamoa, or will they keep her more comic-accurate and go for a more interracial romance/different worlds coming together kind of deal? We'll see I guess.

Oh and I also noticed the Jessica Chastain hashtag at the bottom there, hmm interesting. She has mentioned wanting to do a CBM in the past
I think it would be great to the diverse couple Chastain and Momoa would make.
And if she wanted to do a CBM before then she isn't above doing them. So could be.
As pretty as Chastain is, she seems too...anglo-saxon for Mera, at least for me. I don't picture Mera as a real-life American redhead, but rather someone a bit more exotic with hair unlike any natural redhead in real life.
You know characterization bro? :sly:
Chastain signs up for anything with a pay cheque these day's. Dude hasn't got a clue what he's talking about.

And if someone like Amy Adams can be in these DC universe movies as well as doing her indie/Oscar baity stuff I fail to see why Jess couldn't do it.
-Marvel got Robert freaking Redford, Mr. King of the Independent Cinema who almost NEVER does "blockbuster popcorn films," to be in one of their films.

-MOS got Russell Crowe, Laurence Fisburne, Michael Shannon, Diane Lane, and Kevin Costner to be in it.

-BvS has Holly Hunter and Jessie Eisenberg in it.

So I'm not seeing why Chastain would see this as "beneath."
This!
She hangs around the character of Mera like a beautiful smell...and there are doubts as to whether she'd be up for the role? Really?
I want it to happen, pal Imagine... Adams, Gadot, Robbie, Fukuhara, Chastain.... WOW!!!
You know how Aquaman can attract top talent to play Mera? Write an interesting kick ass female character.

Jenkins please listen this!!!

Okay even though I keep saying I want Paula Patton for Catwoman I wouldn't be opposed to her playing Mera, at all. So yeah she's on my wish list for the Mera role as well.

Maggie Q for Mera sounds good to me.

I'm actually very much in the camp of making Atlantis related characters completely ethnic now that Momoa is Aquaman.

I think I'm leaning towards a preference of a WOC playing Mera.
I wouldn't be mad in the slightest. It would be interesting too, althought I want Chastain, I would welcome that option as well.

With it being an isolated community, I wouldn't expect much diversity between the denizens of Atlantis.

Right now, I'm going to say Kelly Reilly, who is about to get a tonne of exposure with True Detective season 2 coming soon. She's also been in Sherlock Holmes, Calvary, Flight...

Who said that? :loco: There are plenty of areas, not only Atlantis. Mera is Xebelian.

Atlantis is predominantly made up of Atlanteans, yes? In the same way that Norway is predominantly white and blond, even though obviously there will be a small population from elsewhere.

Yet if they are predominant, there are exceptions. This one would be one.
And Atlantis is not the only underwater place. Mera is Xebelain (from Xebel) as I've told you above, so they would be in the entire sea, many population, not only Atlanteas, as in the comics are.

I like that there are more suggestions than Chastain. No offense, she is a good (if over praised to me) actress, but I think the one thing making people think of her as Mera was the red hair and that's it. Opening up the role to actors of all backgrounds will help to make things more cohesive. With Momoa as AM, it gets hard to justify a "comic accurate" looking Mera... And I am fine with that.
