Yeah, of course it doesn't have to match. I'm guessing Atlanteans don't all look the same, so there's no reason for her to resemble Arthur. Besides Mera is technically not even an Atlantean anyway, she is from an "extradimensional penal colony".

I'd be fine either way but would prefer red, as it'd make the Xebelians seem more alien and magical.

One nice thing about Heard...she can look like pretty much anything.

Moreso than a lot of actresses. She has a very versatile look with small changes in hair and wardrobe.

She'll be able to portray a decent range of age for Mera, in AQUAMAN, which I assume might have prequel/origin elements, and JUSTICE LEAGUE movies.

PS: She's been fan-casted for Red Sonja for years now. So the hair color is hardly a problem. She looks pretty red-head adjacent to begin with. Not that it was a problem if she wasn't.
