The trailer played in front of Prince of Persia and it got lots of laughs so i think this is the kind of the film that will do well at the box office. But like others have said it hasn't been positioned in the best release slot of the summer.:o

Knight and Day is part parody, part tribute to super spy and action films,in which the hero do and survive the impossible ,and also walk away with ease from stabbing, high falls, and gunshot wounds.
Roy Miller (Tom Cruise) "accidentally" bumps into June Haven (Cameron Diaz) at the airport. They exchange some pleasantries, flirt a little, and while June hits the plane bathroom,Roy is attacked by the other passengers and the crew, which he easily takes out. After explaining the situation to June ,he crash lands the plane and explains the situation to June and what will happen next, the standout being people will approach June and lie about him and his motives.
When things play out just as Roy states,June becomes a target too because she may know to much ,so what follows is a globe trotting chase which is quite fun for the most part.
The chemistry between Cruise and Diaz is the foundation for the film, which fortunately works in each scene, whether its and insane action scene or a romantic one.
I only wish the last quarter of the film had the same fun pace as the first three thirds of the film.Cruise and Diaz have some cute ,and fun scenes towards the end but it is far to lackluster to ignore, and i had hoped for a slam bang finish to the film.
Scale of 1-10 a 7 ½

Just got back. It was really good. 8 probably.

Anyone that enjoys an easy-breezy action flick with solid romantic flirting is going to love it. I thought I would hate the drug transitions but they were really well done.

Saw it today, really entertaining. Tom Cruise was hilarious and can still do action very well. Cameron Diaz wasn't as annoying as I thought she was going to be. The chemistry between the two is what made the movie good. Reminded me alot of The A-Team, in a way that it is really funny, has awesome action and great chemistry between the leads with some pretty average villains and its a true shame that both are doing bad at the box office.

The box office office numbers are in and I am beyond giddy with evil delight in stating that Tom Cruise is NOT NUMBER ONE ANYMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORE!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! Not number one, not even number two(which this movie has looked and smelled like from the get go)at the box office and neither is Cameron. According to the numbers, it's estimated that this movie could easily FLOP(more maniacal laughter ensues)or it will break even, if it's very, very lucky. This just goes to show you that, despite all the critics who've been paid well by the Church of you-know-what to falsely praise this s***, a movie CANNOT rely upon a couple of stars and no cohesive script or story. I know, people will whine that "oh, it's just a popcorn movie." So is Toy Story, so is Iron Man, and they have cohesive plots, so f*** off, imaginary detractors. Numbers don't lie.

I feel bad for Cruise. I've always liked him and I think that yes, he might have dug his own hole a bit when it comes to his public image, the media sensationalized the hell out of his antics and has continued to crucify him relentlessly for years. I haven't seen this movie yet but I thought it looked like a lot of fun...shame it got beaten out by that Adam Sandler crap.

Cruise is still awesome anyway. It's a shame. But I still love the guy.

Mastermind, you have the giddy pleasure at tearing things down that I can only compare to a 5 year old who builds a LEGO city then pretends to be Godzilla, tearing it apart with his teeth. Seriously, it seems like you're in a minority here.

1. i dont feel sorry for him because noone forced him to go public that he is a fanatic. he shouldnt know better how hollywood works. in hollywwod you pretend to be someoen else. this is how talk shows work, magazines shoots and interviews.

2. why is it Cruises fault that this movie didnt make more money? when A-team underperforms its a bad summer. when other movies fail they do because of the quality.

why is it always Tom's fault?

It was a funny movie & I liked it but lets face it it has been a ****** Summer for Movies all around. People seem to be waiting for the safe bet movies this Summer as seen with Toy Story & now Eclipse

This also opened on Wednesday so the Friday-Sunday totals are going to be lower than what they would have been.

However, Toy Story 3 deserves to still be number 1.

Well, it is true that movies this summer (as a whole) aren't doing as well as expected. And you do bring up a good point that it may have just been a lack of interest in the film itself... Cruise's public image might just be an easy scapegoat for analysts. However, given is previous success with action films, you can certainly make a good argument that since his popularity has dropped off massively, it hurts this film's chances at the box office.

And yes, it is true that no one forced him to make all of those public comments. But there are plenty of other stars out there who have said and done equally outlandish things. Unfortunately for Cruise, since he was (arguably) the biggest movie star in the world at the time, the media turned him into a pariah.

The movie going public is a fickle audience.

And while Diaz and Cruise aren't my favorite actors, I wouldn't mind seeing this but probably when it comes to Netflix.

That being said, I'm wondering how much PR Cruise is going to have to do, for MI4 to be a success.

He has a lot of helicopters, boats, and motorcycles to ride around on this time.

Judging by the popularity of Les Grossman, I'd say it has less to do with Cruise and more to do with poor marketing and being swallowed whole by The Karate Kid and Toy Story 3. Based on the WOM this movie's getting, it seems like it's right at the same level as The A-Team, which is suffering the same fate.

Yea i thought Cruise's popularity has risen again. Pretty much everyone loves Les Grossman.

I think it's poor marketing and a crap release slot that has damaged this movies box office.

I know Les Grossman was Cruise's attempt to bring attention to this movie but yeah the character was funny in Tropic Thunder but I never really thought of it as iconic. I'm actually surprised they used that instead of some other type of pr tactic.

but he was not just on drugs. he didnt just drink and killed someone in hes car.

he belives in the alien Xenu. fact is that Cruise is crazy. he is nuts. he just choose after 2005 to hide it. :hehe:

hahahaha Xenu. Cruise is bat **** crazy. He is a good actor, but he is crazy and public caught wind of that.

Well personally i think an alien race that founded humans is more believable than an inbreeding Adam and Eve and all that religious malarky. :awesome:

Not that i actually believe in either though...

:yay: Some of the great minds, childish as they might come off at times, have always been part of the minority opinion, Bill Hicks, David Cross, Lenny Bruce, and I accept my man-child attitude. After all, it's that very attitude which is embraced whole-heartedly by the majority. How else do you explain how Adam Sandler's movie is more popular than Cruise's? I will admit, though, that I used to like Tommy a bit more in the good ol' "Top Gun" days. Thing is, when a guy like that burns you in so many absurd ways over a period of time, it tends to stick in your craw a bit. I suppose, if Cruise ever decides to get back to doing more "character" pieces like "Born on the Fourth of July" and the Les Grossman schtick, I may extend forgiveness for him. Time will tell.

I guess you didn't see Interivew with the Vampire, Magnolia or Collateral then?

Good point.

While I don't subscribe to Scientology, I don't see why someone's bizarre religious beliefs, or his beliefs about other things (post-pardem depression, psychology) are reasons to label him as nuts.

Granted, when someone acts the way he did in interviews, it can make you wonder, but I think a lot of it was blown out of proportion.

I mean, if you were banging Katie Holmes, wouldn't you jump on a couch in celebration? I know I would.

I mean, if you were banging Katie Holmes, wouldn't you jump on a couch in celebration?

No.

But I agree that the Oprah interview was blown way out of proportion. I saw the clip a few years after it happened and I couldn't figure out what was the big deal. The way people talked about it, I thought he was hopping around like Daffy Duck on meth.

I never thought that it was the Oprah interview that hurt him with the fans, I think it was the attack on Brooke Sheilds. He apologized for it and she forgave him but I think that that hurt him. The bigotry towards his religion is disgusting IMHO but I guess that could have hurt him too.

And the fact that he is 48 years old and the trailers being lame and the name being pretty damn dumb and the teaming him with a hasbeen actress with no buzz what-so-ever. Nobody is on top all of the time and as actors get older they lose there boxoffice powers. Cruise has had a once in a lifetime career and he gets paid a s**tload of money per-picture, he's fine. I don't feel sorry for him one bit.

In hollywood never say the end to an actor's career because one huge hit and you're back on top. He still brings in his fanbase but thats not enough for this type of movie. Again he'll be fine but I hope Paramount doesn't spend too many on MI4 and I hope he doesn't have the same type of sweetheart deal that he had for the 3rd one.

BTW:

I was never a fan of his and I always thought he was a bit creepy.
