Marc Blucas Heads For Wichita
Riley Finn joins Cruise cast
Source: The Hollywood Reporter

James Mangold's as-yet-untitled new thriller (it was previously known as Wichita, but now it's just 'Untitled Wichita Project') has just added former Buffy star Marc Blucas to a cast which already includes Tom Cruise, Cameron Diaz and Maggie Grace. Thus spake The Hollywood Reporter.

As we've said before, the film is a spy thriller which sees Diaz on a blind date with the Cruiser, only to find he's a Fed on the violent worldwide trail of an everlasting battery. Cue danger and excitement!

Blucas will play Diaz's fireman ex-boyfriend, who's "still smitten with her and becomes confused by the agent's overtures of friendship".

Good cast. Intriguing premise. Filming starts next month in Boston.

Why are they now calling it a spy thriller? I thought it was an action comedy.

Heh! It actually sounds like it may be a lot more entertaining than I had thought. :D

It sounds a lot better then I first thought to....the battery thing sounds better. Milner sounds like a really good character for Cruise

Yeah the character seems to be a lot more than just the "hero spy" and I am guessing the broad humour of the con man type Milner is what attracted him to the role.

This actually made me laugh out loud. :woot:

There are so many great moments in Wichita. For example after a big car chase, June is through and demands Milner let her go. He stops the car and actually says 'fine, go ahead.' Then out of nowhere a helicopter appears so he yanks her back inside and calmly offers: "Okay, listen to me very carefully and do exactly what I say. Here, I need you to take this gun and start shooting at the helicopter. Just keep shooting until it falls out of the sky or explodes."

Yeah that sounds very funny....and I can see Cruise delivering that line. :woot:

Cameron looks nice, I expected Cruise to be in a Bond style suit not dressed like that.

how the hell is Cameron shooting this movie and shooting Green Hornet at the same time?

Someone on IMDB commented that they were supposed be shooting on the Zakim Bridge. The scene was suppose to involve a helicopter landing on the bridge as well as a 18 wheeler flipping.

Supposed? so it didn't happen?

The helicopter scene was supposed to shoot today. The description I read said the helicopter would land on the bridge. Someone said that due to wind that couldn't happen. I found an article that did say a car chase on that same bridge was filmed today though. I didn't see anything else in terms of articles about the 18 wheeler though.

Interesting. It seems the action in this may be on a bigger scale than I imagined.
