Knight Rider 2008: The Thread

I can't imagine KITT playing Kelly Clarkson, Souljaboy, Kanye West, that music is garbage.

this should have been the theme.

Its a cute video, but the grunting and squealing noises might be a problem. As far as the music goes, whether you think its garbage or not is entirely your opinion....pop music is pop music....if they do have a new series, expect some contemporary music

I finally caught the Knight Rider TV movie and I have to say that I was seriously disappointed at just how bad the whole thing was. Personally, I felt like I was watching a 2hr car commercial with really bad acting. The guy that played Mike Tracer can't act to save his life, and the rest of the cast was just as bad...honestly the best actors in the entire movie were David Hasselhoff and Val Kilmer as the voice of KITT.

Most people tuned in to see some cool action, and we barely even got that. The whole plot of the movie was lame, and if this is supposed to be the start of a new TV series then count me out.

BTW, the whole morphing thing was cool and all, but no, it´s not as exciting as the turbo boosts. Some of the old ones are impressive stunts even for today´s standards, actually, even more when you know that they couldn´t do any fixes or enhancement with digital FX.

Okay, you talk about certain pop music being garbage, but would have wanted a techno/rave version of the Knight Rider theme? Okay, chief!:whatever:

Actually, I wonder how Kanye would rework it. Hmm.

I listened to the new theme again and, honestly, it isn't as bad as I thought it was initially. Still, I really think it could've benefited from, like, an electric guitar riff of the original main melody somewhere instead of taking the classic beginning and devolving into generic techno.

Totally agree. I just watched "Knight of the Phoenix" again last night and a lot of KITT's stunts definitely live up to today's standards. If there's no turbo boost in the (possible) new series, how are we supposed to relive classic moments like KITT playing chicken with a semi and then jumping it at the last second? :(

The problem is, I doubt the network wanted to pay a hundred grand (exaggeration, I know) to turbo boost and wreck a Mustang for a one-time pilot. Now, if it gets picked up, it may be another story. But I think turbo boosting will be a rare even or cgi'd to some degree.

Weren't there only four cars used as KITT in the original series? How'd they manage to pull it off on their budget back in the day?

Not only that, but looking at some of the boosts, in spite of the editing and preparation - special tires, reinforced suspension, etc. - you can clearly tell the car was going to get smashed pretty bad in the landing.

This coming from someone that likes Nip Tuck.... wow, that's really quality television I guess. :whatever:

Of course they can improve some aspects, it was a Pilot after all. We'll see how the series goes (if NBC goes ahead with it), either it gets better or will fail like Bionic Woman.

I hope they do go ahead

Yeah there were bits that i found not so good, (Never did see the point ofr the FBI chick to be a lesbian.... though the chick in bed was cute:oldrazz: )

imho Kilmer was great as KITT, not sure what the complainers have to complain about.... That is my opinion though.

i love the fact that we were all saying the funeral pictures were from the creators death.... et they killed off Tracer's mom instead.

I have no problem with Kitt being a Mustang nor the lack of any Turbo boost.

Surprised that the theme tune didn't have more of the original in it.

Anyone know of anywhere i can get screencaps BTW?

Ha! you can't be serious can you? Nip/Tuck has won how many awards for it's writing, acting, etc? It's also been regarded by countless fans/critics as one of the best and most original shows on TV. I seriously doubt if the new Knight Rider wins anything except maybe for one of those Razzie awards they hand out for crap. I'm telling you, the best part about the whole thing was Kilmer as KITT.

Face it man, if that was their attempt to show off what a new series could be then I'm sorry but that's just sad. They'd have to recast the entire thing and actually make it more than a 2hr commercial to get people to tune in again.

Comparing Knight Rider to Nip/Tuck....that was funny. That's like comparing a soap opera to The Sopranos or something.

I live in the Uk, so have not yet seen this anyone got a link to a clip of Kilmer as kitt talking?

no jump!!! :(

You think NBC is going to jump and wreck a hundred thousand dollar car?

Especially if they can reuse it if the series gets picked up and spend money on cheap look-a-like cars to jump.

or get some good enough CGI to be able to CGI the bigger jumps

I like what KITT was able to do. The cloaking device was good, and the nano technology was a nice touch too. The car itself was cool, and again, Kilmer has a great KITT voice, it's just the actors that ruined it for me.

^ But you said it was so bad.... and here you are still commenting about it. At least it didn't leave you indifferent, which means it wasn't as bad as you put it in the first place. ;)

Trans Ams were kind of a dime a dozen back then....GM was probably giving NBC replacement parts at a bulk discount....I highly doubt Ford would do that for one of their marquis vehicles......to me KITT was just a newer version of the car from smokey and the bandit....and Nip/Tuck kicks ass...one of the most original/sleazy/fantastic shows on TV

I was being sarcastic about the frog video.

What happened to the first Knight Three Thousand prototype.

Well of course I'm still commenting about it, this is the Knight Rider forum isn't it? In my original post I said that the movie had it's good points (namely Kilmer as KITT and the cameo by Hasselhoff), but overall it was really bad. My main complaint was the acting and just how bad it really was. If I had to rate the new Knight Rider I'd easily give it a 3/10. The car was cool with the nano-technology and the cloaking, but once again the acting was just piss poor.

Watched it last night, didn't like it at all.

Unconvincing lead. I groaned at his introduction, you can just see all the minds gathered around a table wondering how to make this guy as mega cool as possible. But it just wasn't pulled off at all, even more so with his witty dialogue when conversing with KITT.

The car. While I didn't think the voice was great, it was ok I guess. But the design should have been much sleeker, as said earlier. The front was my biggest gripe. The great thing about the original is that there was nothing on the from to distract you. No lights, no grill, just the red line. I also didn't like the updated version of that either. Didn't seem right.

tehy even used a CGI car in the pilot

plus they used a CGI car in theviper series and that is like 10 years ago. plus lets not forget all the other tv series that use CGI.

they can easily use a primitive CGI car for the jumps.
