Knight Rider 2008: The Thread

Chuck is a brilliant little show.

And I attribute its rating drop to the stupid decision of NBC not bringing it back after the strike (the season finale was in January, and it didn't come back until September). Most shows that didn't come back after the strike and were held off until this season have had significant drops in ratings or been canceled. Even shows that were ratings gems.

Whereas, shows that did come back during the last couple of months last season have fared well, even increasing numbers (probably because the lack of competition during those last months brought in new viewers).

very Hasselhoff moment with the girl trying to bribe Mike with the accounts....

This show is still on the air? Whats wrong with u people?

Last night's episode was really good. Still some flaws, but this is the direction the show should have been going from the start. It fits much better with the pilot now.

And, looking at the first half of the season as just a building up to these last few weeks, I'm much more forgiving with all the problems that it had.

So I missed the boat on the whole KRINO acronym. Can somebody explain it to me? O, and I liked last night's epi as well.

I stopped watching the instant I saw KITT turn into a truck. Is this Knight Rider or freakin Transformers?

My main issue was that the SWAT leader was willing to make the worst possible decisions to get the job done.

SWAT team member:"One of the gunmen has hostages huddled around him, sir."
SWAT: "So? Take the shot if you can!"

And while I'd like to think they'd look for a base of operations the government didn't already know about, it's not that major of a concern, right now. I liked that, otherwise, they're acknowledging their limitations now that they're independent of the government.

The humor at the beginning worked as well, as it was a big flaw for the show in earlier episodes. Billy drooling on Zoe was priceless. Then, not only does he not apoplogize, he goes full on for a grab at her ass! Althought at that point, she should have elbowed him right in the ribs.

But in general, the episode was very solid. The pacing was good, the action was nice, and all the little things, like the daughter and whatnot, were pretty good.

Tiny nitpick: I wanna see Michael stunt like his daddy a little, and break out a nice black leather jacket from time to time! :woot:

Did KITT lose his transformation ability after fighting KARR? I'm assuming he can still manage attack mode, but that's an assumption because they still show his attack mode during the intro credits.

And since that's not much different than the Hoff's Super Pursuit mode, I'm fine with it.

I liked how last night that went back to showing the nano-shielding working like they did in the pilot. Instead bullets sparking off KITT, they actually do a little damage, but his nano-skin instantly repairs itself.

I agree. Last night's episode was pretty good, but I fear it stumbled out the gate so there will be no chance to make it right with a second season.

Well, NBC had plenty of time to put the kibosh on it, given it's performance and critical reaction. People hated it more than Bionic Woman, and NBC never really gave that show a chance. I think NBC will keep it around if Heroes doesn't improve during the second half of the season. NBC clearly wants some form of genre show on the network, and failure for one may mean success for another. Heroes has a much larger cast to maintain, and more effects work to do, I would assume than Knight Rider.

Bionic Woman bombed because no one cared about the main character...a sentiment that was around when they aired the pilot at SDCC in '07

And Knight Rider has a huge cool-nostalgia factor. Bionic Woman, not so much.

Plus, those of us who were kids around the time of the original KR weren't old enough to remember Bionic Woman.

Bionic Woman reboot was stupid anyway. The moment I saw the featurette they were showing in movie theatres - lame.

Michelle Ryan has nothing on a talking car.

She did have nice cans, though. But yes, the show did kind of suck.

Another factor to consider regarding the survival of Knight Rider or Heroes is how Jay Leno's nightly primetime show will affect the schedule. Right there, that's five potential hours of programming that scripted shows won't be getting. How many new shows will NBC be able to premire next fall? If Knight Rider were lucky enough to get renewed, I could see NBC holding it until mid-season.

Well, I was hoping they had gotten rid of the transformation, but I guess not. Shame, because I think it would have been much cooler to see the Mustang tearing through the woods.

Still, I'm enjoying the show more than I did in the first half. It still needs some better, more dynamic, direction to help build intensity. Especially noticeable in the on foot chase scenes.

But that's just a nitpick. I'm still getting that KR pump when hearing the theme, and enjoying watching the show. Can't ask for much more than that from what's supposed to be just a fun show.

Nice to see NBC keep Mike O'Hearn around, now that they've canned American Gladiators! LOL!

I loved KITT apologizing for not having a "Hooptie Application"!!! And the mugshot the team found of Constance was a riot!!

But yeah, I was hopping we wouldn't have to see the F-150 transformation anymore, but oh well. It's just that it's so blatant!! Mind you, Viper used nothing but Dodge vehicles for that show, so KR doing it just for KITT isn't quite as shameless. Other than that, I enjoyed the episode. And I'm glad Michael brought up Sarah's new "sexy librarian" look! It does suit her!

I enjoyed it as well....I love how the SSC is really toned down now....KITT being a smartass....very William Daniels of them...

Yeah, I was watching a repeat of the original KR a while back, and I do remember Daniels' KITT being very much in smartass in many episodes. The episode in question, he was acting self-conscious about his looks, and it was just hilarious.

I'm glad this wasn't the kind of retool where they get rid of stuff and pretend it never existed
