The shooting in GTA always sucked. I can't see how it could be any worse in this game.

I think the shooting in GTA (the 4th one) was great. The auto-aim was responsive, the bullets felt deadly, it was great! But if you thought GTA IV had bad shooting, this game will surprise you. It's not bad, IMO, just weak.

I hated both the shooting in GTA and Red Dead. It never felt right and I don't like the subpar clunky cover system in these games. It does return in Noire but it seems a little bit better plus you're not doing it all the time so it hasn't bothered me too much yet.

I wouldn't be surprised if the game opens up more after it's over. You can then go around and do whatever. APB's, news paper, cars, ect.

You do get free roam sections where your not on a case, you just have to go to the main menu and go to the "Cases" section and at the end of each one after your done (traffic, homicide etc.) you can choose "Streets of LA" which is free roam.

Subpar? Clunky? :huh::huh::huh:

To quote Peter Griffin:

"We are on 2 different wave-lengths"

When the hell is the PS store going to go online? I want the exclusive DLC damn it!

Well, it's probably worth mentioning...that Rockstar didn't make this game. They published it, but didn't develop it. Team Bondi deveoped it.

It's an adventure game with elements of free roam.

I was working a case, and had a location to head to for further investigating...but I took a call over the radio and went there instead. I don't know for sure, but I would imagine I'd be able to collect the cars, badges, film reels, newspapers, and landmarks.

But, I don't believe you're never not working a case. The story is always moving forward once you make progress in each case.

I knew they didn't make it, but as publisher they have to OK the game...

And you could go back to the main menu, and find "Streets of L.A." in the cases menu. That's sandbox mode.

I like it but for a game that's supposed to be immersive, not letting you park your car when you get to your location really takes you out of the whole thing. :(

I think you answered your own question, if you love crime stories and the 40's this game was basically made for you. Just keep in mind its not an action game by any means although the car chases are absolutely fantastic

I traded in some stuff at Gamestop, and got the game, basically, for free. Haven't had a chance to play it, but I'll put in an hour or so tonight and see how it goes.

As far as "answering my own question"...I love true crime and 30's/40's Hollywood, but that doesn't mean everything that has to do with it is going to thrill me. That movie "the Black Dahlia" was utter crap in my opinion.

The detective aspect is ALOT of fun, IMO, and really adds something to the game.

See, I thought it was really great too. Until I did it for the 5th time. :o It still has substance due to the fact it's NEVER been done before, but it's disappointing to know that it's all I'll be doing...

It's cool that you know. Because Rockstar is plastered all over the thing. Which I assume Rockstar saw as a risk and reward, since people who don't do they're homework would probably assume the same people that made GTAIV made this. Because Rockstar, again, is plastered all over thing.

And I applaud Rockstar for okaying the game. I though, and still think, this can be a divisive game. It's a ballsy game because it's taking chances in where it's emphasis is at.

This actually takes thinking and looks and stuff like that to get the right answer out of people. Don't see that in many games.

Basically, it's a very different and innovative approach to the genre, like Bioshock was. You can't just run and gun your way through that game, because you'll get ****ed up real quick. You have to actually think about what you're going to do.

1. I haven't committed any wrongdoings myself, but I do know that it will affect your final score when you close a case. Since your always on a case, if you cause property damage or cause damage to your vehicle, or cause injuries, it deducts from Coduct which deducts from the final star score they award at the end of a case.

2. More like Red Dead. The control scheme is slightly different, too. No button presses when running towards a scalable wall. The Shooting is alot like Red too.
Thanks,man :)

In most detective games you don't fire a single shot.
Clues are usually "hunt for item" or "solve puzzle". Most being adventure games, you do talk to characters, although generally it's linear without dictating the story with very few exceptions (Blade Runner for example). I wouldn't Bioshock innovative, pretty much everything it done done around a decade before it existed.

I'm not really liking the lack of a waypoint system while I'm driving.

I read the map and calculate the route, it's not that tough.

I mostly have my partner do all the driving anyways though hahaha.

It's 8:47 pm and my 'release-date delivery' has yet to arrive -.-

I just finished the first case in Traffic with a 4 start rating. So far this game is amazing. Everything works and feels a lot better than I thought it would and I can't wait to play more. Enough can't be said about the face animations, it's an incredible innovation.

This is an adventure game and so far it's an awesome one.

Played all the way until the hit and run case in traffic. Really enjoying the game. I love the amount of detail and depth they put into everything. Is it a perfect game? No, but it sure beats the hell out of 90% of the games that are on the market today. I'd say Rockstar hit another one out of the park. Red Dead Redemption renewed my faith in them after being bored to tears with the GTA series. This, this makes me appreciate them that much more.

Its an adventure game, its a very fun one for sure with some great production values but ultimately aside from the facial animations I don't think its going to turn too many heads GOTY time.

And that's fine honestly, its nice to see people handling the genre on a mainstream level other than Telltale. I'm about 5 hours in and I definitely don't regret my purchase at all. Its a lot like playing the cop parts of Law and Order, just set in the 40's.
