Lady Sif Casting Thread (Jaimie Alexander)

No, she's not. That was my point, I was responding to RAMORE :)

I'm thinking we're going to need a really famous actress in the role if we've got relative unknowns playing Thor (Hemsworth), Loki (Hiddleston), and Odin (Blessed). We may end up with Portman yet.

It seems likely. Not terrible but not my first (or second or third) choice.

no necessarily if star trek/300/spiderman/ didn't have big stars and were still successful why cant Thor

I hoping she's karnilla. A Sorceress need not be big, and i think it would be cool to see Nat as a villain.

I have a feeling that Portman will be cast as Jane Foster if she's even in this. I can see that.

Yeah, I've mentioned that before when people post the Son of Asgard Sif picture. She's the Asgardian equivalent of a teenager in that, not the full-grown goddess she'll presumably be in the movie.

We're 14 issues into the new run on Thor and still no Sif. Whenever Oliver Coipel finally does his rendering of the character, we're sure to see new images online.

ST had Eric Bana and SM had Willem Dafoe. I don't know if you consider them big stars. SM didn't necessarily need big stars because the character's so famous anyway.

I wouldn't look at 300 as a model because it was a rated R movie.

Yeah, I think Star Trek and Spider-Man would've done well regardless because of the name recognition. Those franchises have enormous, loyal fanbases that had been waiting for movies for a long time (a really long time in Spider-Man's case). Thor doesn't have quite so big a built-in audience.

I almost mentioned ST's name recognition but then I realized that its fame worked against it. There are many more people who don't like ST and think it's for geeks than there are ST fans. It's done as well as it has because it's a great movie.

I think any stigma would've left it with the first trailer. It was clearly shown as a big, flash sci fi movie, which always tends to do at least moderately well if the visuals are impressive.

wouldn't that make it even that much more of an accomplishment

St's OW was kind of blah, though, wasn't it? I was under the impression that it's doing well mostly because it has great legs.

It's getting a lot of positive word-of-mouth. A lot of fans were skeptical about it because it was a reboot but found themselves liking the movie after they saw it. I was one of them. :)

I could live with it.

Forgive me, but who is that? She looks like she could be an excellent Wasp.

Thanks. I don't watch very many movies, so I wouldn't know. Personally, for Sif, I like Lauren Cohan lookswise, but I'm not sure about her acting ability.

So, my top 3 choices for Sif are currently Gemma Arterton, Missy Peregrym, and Cobie Smulders.

I just saw The Hangover last night and it occurred to me that the fiancée in that, played by Sasha Barrese, has a good look for Sif. But I didn't get much of a feel for how good an actress she is, since she's barely in the movie.

Which one was she? The one engaged to the lost groom or the one Ed Helms' character was going to propose to?

The one engaged to the groom. Ed Helms' girlfriend was played by Rachael Harris, whom I love because she's a hilarious comedy actress, but I would never picture as a warrior goddess.

I get the Sif height and build thing, really I do, but I'm still not gonna be crying if Portman is cast.

I can definately live with it.

I haven't seen her act too much, so take this with a grain of salt. Camilla Belle. (5'8")
