You still have the exact same problems you have with Portman. No matter how good the actor/tress is, if they don't fit the part they don't fit they part. Neither of them do.

Dye her hair jet Black and she'll still look the same, or pretty close. Its not like she has wrinkles or anything. Her hair is light brown again now, and she looks just like she did before she played Xena.

I agree Lucy Lawless still looks great as seen on BSG.

BUT c'mon, she's too old for the role of Sif when Thor is to be 20-30 years old. Unless he likes older women & I can't blame Thor if he find Lawless hot, but Hollywood won't go this route.

What do you guys think about going outside the race. Maybe asian. Or is this just wrong. t:

Thor is actually a bit older than Sif if we're going by the comics. He meets her when he's a young teenager and she's still a fairly small child.

As for casting someone from another race, I wouldn't flip out or anything, but they're supposed to be Norse gods and, as far as I know, Norse people were all white, descended from the Germanic tribes that wandered the European continent.

Because he's from Skornheim. He's been accepted as an Asgardian but he's really not one. Same deal as Beta Ray Bill only much earlier, basically.

I sure hope so. Depends on whatever the release date for that movie is, though. They could make that movie from start to finish long before Thor even starts filming, given that it's a romantic comedy, probably without much in the way of post-production.

I've been trying to redesign Sif's costume all day. I love the character, but all of her adult costumes were pretty lame. About the only element I like on them is the boots.

I love Portman too but sorry she's too short. Alyssa Milano too for that fact. There are some taller women out there come on already. Taylor Cole, Cobie Smulders, Rebecca Hall, Alana de la Garza, Kristanna Loken the list goes on...

Are fans really hitting this height thing again? After all the "Hugh Jackman is too tall" crap of yesteryear, you'd think people would learn.

Portman outclasses every name on that list put together. Forget comic book narrow minded bias.

Wolverine not being a midget is not the same thing as Sif being 5'4". Wolverine was just arbitrarily short in the comics. Sif is tall for a pretty specific reason: she's a warrior goddess. It'd be nice if she came off even remotely realistically, and Natalie Portman's tiny frame doesn't really convey that.

Besides, I don't even think Portman's that great an actress. She's good, but there's nothing particularly dazzling about her acting that automatically puts her above any of the other names I've seen. All she has over them is name recognition.

I agree. I would something that looks more medieval, something along the lines of Jen-Tai from the old 16-bit fighting game WeaponLord.

Obviously, a little more armor should be added, less flesh exposed. But I love the fur on the shoulders and the ram horn helmet.

Name recognition is going to be vital for the Sif role i believe along with Loki and Odin. Portman though? Nah.

I'm not a fan of the helmet, but I'm all for incorporating fur into all of the movie's costumes. Fur looks awesome and it makes sense on characters who wander around in snow 90% of the time.

Eh, I guess. Still not a favorite for me, though. Too big an age gap between her and Skarsgard or any of the other actors being considered for Thor.

Now, if Karnilla's in the movie, that's another story. Lawless would be perfect for her.
