Lady Sif Casting Thread (Jaimie Alexander)

I really like the way that all of the Asgardians that have been cast so far are young up-and-comng actors rather than "names". It gives the filmmakers the opportunity to make them seem more "god-like", as the audience will see the character rather than such-and-such actor.

Yeah, and by going for the young route, it gives them a nice "ageless" quality.

Alexander definitely looks the part of Sif.

I agree - the girls certainly no waif:-

At 5'9", she's quite the statuesque beauty - as is befitting a Norse Goddess. She should look quite good next alongside Hemsworth, I thinking. The two will compliment each other well; imagine what they'll look like in full costume - like they just stepped off the printed page.

I get the feeling Jane will be the "main" love interest and Sif will be cast aside at some point. I can't really fault the movie for it if that's the case, since that's exactly how it went down in the comics as well, but I really prefer Sif over Jane, personally. Hopefully Sif at least has some cool scenes.

Yeah, I'm thinking they may approach Sif the way Teela was approached in 'Masters of the Universe' - occasionally getting involved in the action with a few lines to say but overall kinda just, well, there.

Lame. I know there's a mythological basis for it, but I'm quite attached to Marvel's version.

Well this is a surprise. I thought Alexander was some obscure actress Hypesters love to suggest for roles but who would never land a big part. Of course, I thought the same thing about Hemsworth. Watching the casting for this movie is fun.

Never heard of her other than a few mentions in other casting threads. Then again... they could have casted Gina Carano. Still concerned about the no names. I don't know if there was a big time brunette actress out there that is young who could play a convincing Sif anyhow. Could have been worse though.

I know how you feel. It's exciting and fun for those of us following production to see these names plucked out of nowhere but how is this going to translate at the BO? Portman's the only big name so far...is there any other major role that can have a big name cast?

I know how you feel. It's exciting and fun for those of us following production to see these names plucked out of nowhere but how is this going to translate at the BO? Portman's the only big name so far...is there any other major role that can have a big name cast?

But Sif is also supposed to look impossibly beautiful. It's a tricky balance, sure, but I can understand them preferring not to veer too much onto the fierce, grizzled, muscular warrior woman end of the spectrum.

Are you serious? Acting should come first, and Jaimie is good. Secondly should be the looks, and Jaimie as Sif is gorgeous, and by no means is she a scrawny cheerleader size. Are we looking at the same woman?
