BvS Larry Fong is the cinematographer!

Perfect response to this bull**** about MOS being "colorless."

Yep, the filters for MoS were an artistic choice. One with which I disagree for a Superman film, but that is personal preference.

And plus, whatever issues that people had with MOS's color palette, I don't know why people are bringing it up Fong. The dude didn't even work on the film.

Not to mention the fact that regardless of all of that, the footage that we've seen from the BvS teaser has shown that they aren't going in that same route.

My guess would be that either they don't know it wasn't him on the first movie or they are worried of a repeat. Granted i'm giving them the benefit of a doubt. Might just also be stupidity.

Change your TV setting to your heart's content (hell, I do it once in a while when rewatching MOS to get a different experience) and make all the fan edits you please. But to suggest that you know better about BvS, a movie which you had no part of and haven't seen is just out of this world to me. Those choices are made for a reason, whether you agree with them or not. That's absolutely fine if you don't end up liking the final product, but really, the people tweeting Larry Fong and Zack Snyder to "raise" their awareness?

I'm also not surprised they modified the MOS "original" screenshots to prove a point. The movie never looked like that to me.

I love that that video reached pros.

Someone tweeted Larry Fong about the MOS in color video.

And where was i talking about the suit/cape? I was referring to the dull colours/filter Snyder used and you for some reason are talking about how the cape moves.
No. I just gave you the color that the SR cape felt to me.
Could be. Possibly.

I agree. I think if the shot of Metropolis was made in daylight instead during the night, we wouldn't have the "it is grimdark" complaints now. And the colors are actually not a problem in that shot, they are very vibrant, it is just dark because it's night. Logically.

I definitely like BvS cinematography more.

I didn't have a problem with filter used in MOS for the most part of the film, but I also wasn't a big fan of it. And in some scenes it really killed the color and made people look very pale. I admit that it was not my cup of tea, though most of the complaints were/are really over the top.
I must have been seein MOS in a different cinema or TV. or is it matter of opinion because while I agree BvS color is better, they never got the feeling of pale, they looked normal to me. Guess I'm not used to seeing reddish faces on my home place :o

Unless you're talking about the underground interrogation scene :p

All the people that love the brighter colors can simply get it on DVD/Bluray and
crank their HDTVs to peak color and contrast and Viola.... Addis Ababa.

you will love it.
I always wondered what Saving Private Ryan would look like in color.
saving-private-ryan-main-review.png
Why is it in black and white? :o
I think the "colored" version of Man of Steel looks a lot better and is more representing of the character. Where as Batman SHOULD be darker. The two should contrast each other.
So in Gotham Superman must look like if he was surrounded by light. OK. :funny:
The hero is represented by his actions not by his colors.

:lmao:
Why did the guy randomly throw in a saturated shot from BvS? doesnt even look like he colored it, just made it brighter.
To just add to his point more silly things?

The real MoS is the upper one.
It's really time to shut their "lab"...
It's based on a lie. I knew it. Bravo man.

Filters are added for a reason. The original footage rarely looks good, add a little effect/filter and it's suddenly beautiful and emotional. Learn to appreciate what these people do. It's art. If it's not your cup of tea - fine, but don't try to force your "opinion" on others.

Can't agree more. It adds emotion in my book too.
500 000 likes... so many casuals in this world.
the casuals are based on a lie :funny:

Indeed
I can't believe the main page actually posted this video as "news."

"What if Man of Steel was in color?" I must have missed the black-and-white version in theaters. And on Blu-Ray .
Even THR poste it.

Neither to me. I must have a pretty good cinema and TV.
I loved it. Reminded me a lot of this:

I love it too. Superman is not represented by his brighty and jarring colors. It's by his actions.
Anyone who thought that Man of Steel color "restoration" video was any good has terrible taste.

Nice find man.

Didn't know people could get so worked up by someone who didn't like the look of MOS.

Same as how people get worked up by the look of MOS.

Opinions, man, they are like ***holes...

I also don't know why some even bother to make darker the MOS footage to prove some "point" and lie about to attack the movie and also think they know better than the ones that made the movie, when they really don't.

This whole thing is hysterical.

I showed one of my non-comic nerd friends the video as she didn't like MOS and I asked if the color played a part in her not liking it and she said she didn't even notice it was "dark" and that she still didn't care.

I think that video is ******** and I let everyone on twitter know that. People accept comicbook movies that look like expensive Television shows because they are colorful but have the audacity to whine about one that looks like an actual film? **** that. Artistic ignorance.

And I still stand by my point that these brighting manips and footage are a waste of time and that the people who do that need to get a life and make their own film. It's pathetic guys.

It really is, isn't it?

At the end of the day, some people just feel that MOS would've looked a little better with some more color. It's no different than what some people have said about SR and MOS in the past. It's no different from comparing MOS to the what BvS seemingly will look like...

You aren't wrong!

And I still think videos and photos like that are a waste of time and pathetic.

I suppose I should just feel sorry for people like that and losers who re-edit the Star Wars prequels.

You think I'd waste my time CGIing good costumes overtop of the X-Men costumes just because I hate them? Nope.

I still think MoS would be better if it didn't look so blueish, but yeah... they lied, and at many times their "enhanced" colors were worse (even worse than their edited "original footage").

I actually noticed that the BvS footage looked darker and colorless than in the actual trailer, but I didn't bother to compare.

Some made a good analogy of how Zack Snyder with his filters is like JJ with his lens flares. :D

And what do you think it's saying?

Exactly what they showed. The title of their video is "What if Man of Steel had color?" They claimed the original footage was a certain way and they lied about it. It had color and it had more color than they claimed. They also said they were "restoring the natural colors" and their results did not look natural.
