I started watching Naruto, but the animation and kiddishness of it turned me off after 5 episodes.
Samurai 7 was a great blend of samurai action and steam punk!

Ano Hana: Quiet, contemplative, the way it unfolds how Menma's death has affected her friends' lives, each indifferent ways, as they move on or find they are unable to.

Blue Exorcist: Has a sort of of Full Metal Alchemist feel to it with a somewhat (so far) less elaborate mythology, though that may be changing with the hints of a bigger plot is growing within the school, though. Maybe FMA meets Harry Potter.
