^ I would love to see what happened to spiderman at the BO happen to a batman movie but I really doubt it will ever happen.
Well, I understand: between the state of the country - and the world - post 9/11, the fact that a Spider-Man movie had never been made before, he's one of the most recognizable and lovable heroes in the world, the trailer looked awesome, it promised great effects, a fun time in the cinema, and the overall message about power and responsibility, and doing the right thing even when its hard... those things could not have been more timely.
So yes, I realize that it was the right movie at the time, and it was one that people had been anticipating for years anyway... it all just came together perfectly.
But.
1.) Faith and doubt are powerful things, and I prefer to be a purveyor of positive vibes where I may, so I choose to have a positive outlook, and not doubt something that I truly wish to see happen.
2.) Batman may not be a colorful or feel-good type of hero, but he is a symbol of hope, protection, and justice in a time and a place filled with madness, and a lot of moral grey area. And I think the world needs that right now. I think the fact that so many of us are here talking about Batman, and the fact that people who don't normally care about Batman loved Begins (my aunt, my boss, my Dad, and my Mom, to name four) may be some sort of indicator of that.
3.) The faith and doubt thing again.
