I think what he meant is that a batman movie will never from now on to the future will never do or come close to making spidey numbers.

No i got that but im saying that the Spiderman movies didn't have any of the baggage a Batman reboot did. I would be shocked if TDK doesn't pull in 300 million.

According to boxofficemojo, adjusted for inflation, the1989 Batman raked in 420,000,000 domestic. That puts it above Spider-man's 403,000,000.

Batman is easily the most well known superhero. the only thing that I've ever witnessed being a cultural phenomenon like Batman in 89 was the patriotic fever that followed 911. Remember how you saw flags every-freaking-where? Replace them with Batsymbols and maybe you're close.

I'll do with a script review but I would prefer a leak(beggers can't be picky i know....

Batman Begins was just about the script we all read and it didn't ruin my experience at the theatre one bit

I have some scripts come my way being in the biz but nothing really new or exciting, especially not Batman Begins

Like Miranda said, i would really like to read for myself how the Joker is portrayed.

Just so you know, you don't have to respond to anything explode7 says because I can assure you it's just something stupid. He's like the village idiot, the guy in the room that just shouts stuff and people tune out. He thinks he is bothering us, he thinks he is getting to us, he thinks he is making fun of us, but really we just like to laugh at him.

Phew, I thought I was the only one that noticed.

No, I think anyone who opens their eyes to it can see how pathetic it is to put down a movie simply because they prefer the competitor's product. It's low and pointless. Anyone who boasts about the quality or earning of a movie they had nothing to do with other then watch it obviously needs to get a grip.

To be honest, I'm not really bothered how much TDK pulls in, as long as it makes a good enough profit that the WB don't start taking a bit of creative freedom from Chris, I couldn't care.

I cannot freiking wait for the Script Review! I really can't!

but spiderman inflated as around 450 million. Batman can do those numbers I do not see THAT much with nolan. his back to the basics phelosiphy makes good movies, but to do that well, you need style. For example, had say, Johnny Depp been cast as Batman, Jim Carrey as The Joker, and Cameron Diaz as Rachel dawes, than batman could do 400 million. But with Nolan it wont, itll high 200's/low 300's.

We'll see.

I know better than to try and predict any film's Box Office, it's a dumb game and I don't play it, but I'd love to see you eat your words. I do think that what happened with Spider-Man was as much a product of the time it came out as anything else. But people love a good Batman movie, and this one has the Joker in it, and Bale's becoming more of a name all the time, and Ledger has some draw, too. And people liked Begins, which will get them back out to see this one. So I know this one is going to make more than Begins.

But I won't hazard a guess as to how much. I mean you have to admit, Begins was hamstrung by the memory of "Batman & Robin," it had to overcome that, and it did. With TDk that won't be a problem. People are gonna have some idea what to expect, and they know it's something good.
The one difference between Batman and Spider-Man is that Spider-Man is much more of an FX show, and that always does bring the kids and the people who just want some spectacle.

^ I would love to see what happened to spiderman at the BO happen to a batman movie but I really doubt it will ever happen.:(

Well, I understand: between the state of the country - and the world - post 9/11, the fact that a Spider-Man movie had never been made before, he's one of the most recognizable and lovable heroes in the world, the trailer looked awesome, it promised great effects, a fun time in the cinema, and the overall message about power and responsibility, and doing the right thing even when its hard... those things could not have been more timely.

So yes, I realize that it was the right movie at the time, and it was one that people had been anticipating for years anyway... it all just came together perfectly.

But.

1.) Faith and doubt are powerful things, and I prefer to be a purveyor of positive vibes where I may, so I choose to have a positive outlook, and not doubt something that I truly wish to see happen.

2.) Batman may not be a colorful or feel-good type of hero, but he is a symbol of hope, protection, and justice in a time and a place filled with madness, and a lot of moral grey area. And I think the world needs that right now. I think the fact that so many of us are here talking about Batman, and the fact that people who don't normally care about Batman loved Begins (my aunt, my boss, my Dad, and my Mom, to name four) may be some sort of indicator of that.

3.) The faith and doubt thing again.

hahaha

explode ill NEVER see through your eyes- i am the only one here who sees tdk getting 300 million,

As a definite? I'd say you're in the minority. :p

I won't say it's not a possibility, but I won't be holding my breath either.

Depends on what you mean by "larger", I think.

I mean, unlike BB, Batman won't be visiting distant and unique lands like he did in BB. The scope will (probably) be much smaller, and much mored focused on Gotham and Gotham alone.

That said, with what a great writer Jonathan Nolan is, it wouldn't surprise me if, script-wise, it was larger and more complex than BB ever was.

Agreed completely. Memento Mori is a fantastic piece of work.
