I don't like that boy as Gambit, but that's just my opinion.

Anyway, I've always thought they wanted to keep Gambit for a fourth movie if Jackman doesn't want to be Logan again. Bada$$ for bada$$... what I think is completely stupid because they're different characters with different personalities, and I'd like to see my two favorite characters -three if we count Storm- interacting in a movie.

*sigh* I have the feeling that they haven't been honest with us in several things, but this is a business and they have to protect their interests. At least we know they had the idea of putting the character into the movie, though they dropped it eventually.
i agree

He's a great looking guy, but Gambit? I think not. I can't picture Channing with longer hair.

I pretty much would have taken any good looking guy,to have gambit in x3.I mean alot of the cast you couldn't pic as their characters but they worked.

(also goes to show that Simon Kinberg isn't being completely honest when he says that Gambit was never really a part of the movie, considering that people actually read for the part)

Double *Le Sigh*

I mean I know he wrote the movie, but that bit scares me. I hope he only told the half truth about Gambit, not anything else. :(

>>>>JOSH HALLOWAY! (the lost guy)<<<<<<
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I'd love to see Josh as Gambit. ;) But I can't see him with Anna/Rogue.

Channing is too young looking. Gambit should be in his late 20s to early 30s. Somethint older but young enough to be a seasoned thief.

Regarding Kinberg, Nell..I knew he was stretching the truth. I really don't buy the whole "Save Gambit for later" argument since at the time, they didn't know if they were going to make an X4. And THEY STILL DON'T KNOW! Ratner even mentioned that he treated X3 as the last one during filming. (Though he's still open for an X4).

It's dumb.

Kinberg has no weight for his excuse.

I wouldn't be surprised if Gambit is NOT in X4 since Marvel has a grudge against the character. He's not even in any of the X-Men comics anymore, right? LAME.

Marvel...erm...has a grudge against Gambit? When did this happen?

1. I am not one of the writers so quit asking me questions about the writing of characters...haha. I am just telling you what the most likely case is. They are saving him for a big opening sequence, big and integral part, etc. But beleve what you want that is up to you. Just telling you my perspective on the whole situation.

2. It is just hard choosing whether characters should be in or out considering the huge cast and character list. You can't please everyone in 2 hours with so many characters. The ball was dropped on alot of things because they had no choice. And all I can say is they don't want a blink and miss cameo of Gambit that will just be ignored in a future movie.

3. Well your one of those people who thinks recasts and sequels past 3 automatically mean suckage right?? No use arguing here because you already have decided that. I personally feel the franchise can goe through those stages and still maintain quality.

1. And I'm just telling you my point of view on the matter. It's happened with characters just as important, if not moreso, than Gambit before, so the whole "cameo ruins their grande entrance later" excuse is hypocritical.

2. True, but I guarantee that you'll please more fans with Gambit and Nightcrawler than you would with Quill, Arclight, and Multiple Man.

3. Yes, I do... because movies aren't comic books, and are more realistic. It will break continuity to have characters played by different actors every couple of years. And when adapting something like a comic book, that spans for decades, that we're lucky to get 3 movies out of (a grand total of less than 6 hours worth of adaptation), you have to be selective in what you adapt, and that means you can't just through in everything under the sun. You have to pic the most important characters and relationships, the most definitive. That is why I don't want to see the X-Men movies continue, because it will be without Xavier, Jean, Wolverine, Storm, probably even Cyclops and Rogue... all of those the most definitive characters of the X-Men mythos. A movie, an adaptation, using a core of Kitty, Colossus, Iceman, and Gambit, as cool as those characters might be, aren't "definitive" of the core X-Men, and shouldn't be front and center in an adaptation.

Sigh indeed...:( Remy Lebeau, Remy Lebeau, where art thou Remy Lebeau?!

The fact that they were actually testing actors tells me that he was definetely a part of the script. I wonder who had the final say about axing Gambit?

^He doesn't really have the look for Gambit. I would have dealt with him though.

I don't really care to debate or argue about Gambit anymore cause nothing is gonna come from it. All I can say is if X4 happens we will see Gambit. Goodnight world.

He looks too...clean. I don't know, he doesn't have the Gambit vibe, I guess.

i was on a dvd site, and i searched for x-men and x-men 3 was on the list, i think it said its coming out 12th of december, which is the smartest thing for fox, just before christmas

It's also the lamest thing.

It's not an X-Box 360. One DVD release isn't gonna be a Christmas cash cow...

I'm gonna be so ****ing pissed off if I gotta wait until mid-December to finish my trilogy.

Can you give me a link to this site you checked out?

I'm glad he isn't Gambit. He doesn't look anything like him. And i agree with Nell. They want Gambit to star in in a possible X-4? great but why not have him in as a cameo in X-3? It would have been cool epecially since this is the last of the trilogy and nobody knows for sure if there will be an X-4. Besides that would mean Gambit fans will have to wait at least 3 more years to see coolest X-man on the big screen. Yeah i said it: the COOLEST! :p

I don't know why people are saying that Simon is lying. Someone doesn't *have* to be in a script to go for a casting session. He was considered very early on, I thought that was known, and very early on he was removed because they wanted him to have a bigger role and not feel forced.

IMO people should take this as a good sign, mainly because of what Lauren has said about them wanting more movies. He would be a strong character to bring in and have a lot of focus on. X4, or the X-Kids movie seems likely as people have been guessing.

This thread really needs to be merged.

Why?

This thread is about a Q&A with Lauren Shuler Donner. Gambit was one of a few topics. But there are other topics covered in her Q&A. If you don't like the Gambit talk, feel free to start discussion on one of the other topics that Donner covered.

Here, I'll even start it for you:

Donner thinks that Beast is gonna be more beloved than Angel. See Worthy! I told you Beast > Angel!

;)

Discuss...

Yeah well most of us dont wanna see Gambit in a ****ing X-kids movie...we wanna see him alongside the real X-men. The problem here is they held off on Gambit for X4 when an X4 isn't even a certainty. If they truly were "saving him" then they better damn well make sure an X4 is made.
