Lee Bermejo and Brian Azzarello's Joker Graphic Novel

Just read it. Liked it very much. Well written.

Funny that Batman gets to deliver the punchline in the end. He was portrayed in a very cool way.

Riddler was a bit odd for my taste. Joker crying was meh.

Only part I didnt really like was the rape. It wasnt completely nessesary. Other than that good stuff.

You don't get it. You must think The Joker looks weak with him crying. He's a psychopath. He's an all over the map emotion type of man. He's one mood in one minute and another in the next.

Some could say he cries for no reason, or because Two-Face didn't answer his call.

Writers over the years have said he's an all over the map with emotions but really they have only covered only one side of that map. That's why we're not used to it.

He's unpredictable. This Joker was just that. And shocking.

Well I saw the bashing a mile away but I'm still a little bruised from how harsh that was. I know I should read the rest, I've read a lot but yes I am buying eventually. I've already stated many times I'll probably love it and I did love a lot of what I read. No, that part has nothing to do with my screen name, Two-Face is one of my favourite Bat villains but so is Joker too. I just don't like when one or any other villain besides Killer Moth is used to make another look better. Having read back over that scene I now understand I was wrong on some aspects, such as the reason for Harvey's begging. Other aspects I will continue to dislike though, such as how quick Penguin is subdued, and the characterisation of the Riddler. Joker's characterisation seems off to me, as I'm a guy who prefers a Clown Prince of Crime to a gritty killer if you get my point. I can respect people's opinions if they prefer a Joker who skins a man alive but personally I find it overly grotesque. I must admit I do feel a little like trying to voice a disappointment about TDK on the other boards here, only with more intelligent replies of course. I'd just ask that you respect that some people prefer somethings to others. The book excites me but not overly so. If it odes to you then more power to you, I just don't get excitement over a Joker who rapes and skins people alive.

i didnt mean to bash i just think you should read the book (with an open mind) before you judge it. thats all.

Did anyone else love it when Joker compared Two-Face to a sports car? My God, that was perfect. Tons of great writing in there.

"In the dark. He's out there."

This made Batman seem like such a mythic and rumored figure. Something I always loved about the character. How criminals talk about him make him seem otherworldly or godly. That one line summed that up for me. But he's not a god figure. He's human. If you're wondering why he wasn't there to stop the murders is because that's the point. He's human. He probably doesn't know it's going on. He could be on the other side of the city. He can't be in two places at once.

Also another great example of complete over the map emotion is when he's depressed about Harvey not picking up the phone. Then he's sad, and then the dude said it's another episode.

"No no no no, don't go."

BAM! He swings the gaddamn broken bottle to the guys head!

Did anyone else also keep hearing Mark Hamill's voice for this Joker? I did. It's usually his voice when I'm reading the character. It depends on the actions and writing and style of the art though.

you wouldnt be biased now would you?

if you are going to write the book off before you read it than do everyone a favor and just dont read it.

seriously.

and what do you mean "making the Joker look way better".

the joker is not portrayed in what you would call a positive light in this book.

forget it...

Lol, when it concerns the Joker, that makes no sense.

i actually got a cross between heath's more sinister voice in the mob meeting and burning pile of cash scene (..."the bat man" "this is my city" "tell your men they work for me"), chris walken (which bermejo cited) and vincent gallo.

i think hamil's joker voice (which i love) only works for tas.

I don't know. It usually is Hamill for me. Pretty much everything with him in the GN is. This Joker was different from Heath's. Just with the sudden change of mood an emotion reminded me so much of Hamill and how he did it with such grace.

and just like his toad he jumps before the batman can get him

I think his jumping had more to do with the fact that the Joker just shot his jaw off, and he realized he was finished than a "oh god Batman is scary!" thing.

I think it depends on the Joker pictured. Long wavy hair cut lip Joker is always Heath. Slick backed hair purple pressed suit Joker is always Mark Hamill.

I liked Joker's wardrobe too. Simple. Purple pants with a orange yellowish vest with a blueish trenchcoat. I liked it.

what was in the briefcase that riddler gave joker? i think it was the pills but im not 100% sure

check a couple pages back we were talking about how it is something related to two-face.

We aren't supposed to know.

I think it's something that can be used against Harvey, did you notice when Joker whispered in his ear? It may have been something about that.

I really enjoyed Joker, the story was great and the Artwork was the best i have seen the Joker drawn in a long time.

Didn't Two-Face say 'Hes found a way to kill one of 'us''. Whatever Joker whispered purported to that

Yea good point messy. That may be the case. I thought it was cool the way they made that bit unreadable, aswell as the brief case. Adds a element of mystery to the story.

this book was great!
the art was amazing, the story was incredible, Jokers character was exactly as it should be, brutal and unpredictable.

my only complaint is that it was to short, i finished it in less than an hour.

other then that, amazing book.

Yea my only complaints are that it was too short, and the font was uninspiring. I would of thought they would of done something interesting for Joker's speech bubbles.

I absolutly loved how they made it so life-like, a form of realism thats darker than nolans universe. it was beautiful.

Looked through it last night. I'll be waiting for the softcover.
