Left 4 Dead

I've enjoyed the demo so far, but as I've feared this game just doesn't seem worth sixty dollars to me. Or even fifty if I bought it for PC. I'll definately pick this up once it's down to thirty or fourty bucks, though.

Really? I put 23 hours into the demo so far, finish the majority of full games in about 9-10 on average. It's 1/10 of the game roughly with no VS and will get the influx of user made map packs and mods no doubt, I think I'll be getting my money's worth here personally.

The lack of a single player campaign really kills it for me. Plus some parts of the gameplay feel a bit antiquated. However like I said, I really enjoyed what I played and I'll buy it when it drops in price without a doubt.

I just tried the demo out briefly and I'm not that impressed. The graphics are nice and the zombies are cool, but the gameplay is very meh.

That's kinda the point I think, It feels more like doom than Doom III.
Even the gun animations are minimal and sped up.

Stick it up to expert and try it with 3 other people.

Not the difficulty, the gameplay ie the controls and how slidey it all feels.

Works fine on the pc, same default control and feel as all source games with the exception of the movement slightly faster than HL2. Not getting any slippy sliding feeling, guess I'm just use to the source engine.

Not seeing much diffrence other than the strafing movement and look movement of the analog sticks.

I don't care if the PC is similar, I just don't like the feel of the game. I love Portal but it still feels very floaty too. Valve needs to work on adding some weight to their FPS characters. Plus a better aiming system would be good too, especially in a game that works better with headshots.

the concept reminds me of Resident Evil Outbreak except this one is actually done pretty well

Yeah, the aiming system could be tweaked for some more precise shooting.

I played some more, online, and while it's a cool concept, I just can't see spending hours playing this. Me and 4 people played for like a half hour on Expert and we couldn't finish the subway level. I have to say play for a little, everyone die start over, one of your members starts shooting everyone, all start over, play, start over, isn't that fun.

It's cool that the Zombies are different all the time, but I don't know how much game is there.

I love it, it's like game crack.
Best fun in a game in long while.

That's what difficulty settings are for.

I didn't find the controls "antiquated" at all. Like kez said, it feels the same as all the Valve games, which is perfectly fine to me because the Valve games' controls are really, really good. In fact, they're my personal standard for FPSes. I've played the demo on both PC and 360 and I prefer the PC version, although the 360 version didn't control half as badly as I expected it to. I've already pre-ordered the full version on Steam, though, since I favor PC controls for FPSes. I think this might be the game that finally makes me buy a headset for my PC because I did enjoy being able to just talk on the 360 instead of having to type or basically be mute to everyone else on PC.

wow, my thread lasted all the way up to the release.

Some dude has put 121 hours into the demo.

Not long left.

Must be a college student or something with nothing but time on his hands. 121 hours is insane.

Oh, and I tried the demo on advanced last night for the first time. Holy hell, it's so much harder than normal. I got killed at one point. I never even got knocked down on normal.

Then id LOVE to be at his college. Im lucky if i can sit down and get an hour of Gears in. Gah i hate the end of the semester.

Played the demo a few hours ago. Nothing really mind blowing for me, but still had tons of fun. I would get this tomorrow if I had money.:csad:

I got it at midnight because I pre-ordered it, but I was asleep and now I'm at work. Earliest I'll get to play it is 5:30 tonight. :(

I finally got around to playing the demo and I practically crapped my pants in terror. Pretty scary game, and it's pretty damn fun, too. Though I can see it possibly getting old after a while.

I think I might wait to get it until the online community really starts to bloom.

If I do get this game, it'll be on PC because this might spawn mods like HL1 & 2 did. Valve is an excellent developer and I have a feeling this game will rock.

My name is "MrBoBo" if you want to hook up sometime.
Cool, I'll add you when I get home today.

I only got to play L4D for about an hour last night. It was awesome, though. Once you get a few more levels than the two the demo gives you, you start to get a feel of some forward progress.
Turns out in that first chapter that you can play the first two levels of in the demo, you're running across town to a hospital. I didn't get to finish the last level of the chapter because people kept leaving and the bots' AI isn't as fun to play with, but the ending is hard as all f***ing hell. You have to hold out on the roof of the hospital for 10 minutes, which means a tank inevitably shows up at some point. He knocked me off the roof one time. It sucked. :(
