Joe Dempsie for Mathion.

Ok, because this is SHH and I love you guys, you get the FIRST LOOK at the synopsis for THE LAST ASCENSION, the second book in the MAVONDURI TRILOGY!!

THE LAST ASCENSION: BOOK TWO OF THE MAVONDURI TRILOGY, takes place 583 years after the events of MATHION. When King Tharion is gravely injured in a surprise assassination attempt by a werewolf, Mathion is forced into a corner by the Council of Elders. Knowing that he is not yet ready to ascend, Mathion decides to undertake another journey, traveling to the far northern reaches of Kânavad with Kéle'il and Oharion Halfbreed to find the only cure for one suffering the near-fatal bite of a werewolf: Wolfsbane. At the same time Mathion’s son Mathios, along with his old friend Dovosir, is now embroiled in a conflict with the rebel Uprisers, led by a renegade Elder and threatening civil war with Ánovén. And overshadowing all of them is Azgharáth who, seeing the ripe opportunity before him, seeks to avenge his humiliation at Mathion's hands and ensure that he will never ascend the High Throne of the Wolven.

I just bought the first book on Kindle.

Cool! Don't worry, still working on Book 2..have to keep some hype up though haha

It will be awhile before I can get to the first book on my kindle. I have a good number of books to read before it. So maybe by the time I get to it you'll have book two out.

:woot: I have..finished! Read 388-415 tonight. Just finished minutes ago.

Do you want the review on Smashwords or on Amazon? Cause I think you said you wanted it on Amazon??

Just came to a conclusion...4.5/5 stars. That is Final. Very tough choice between 4, 4.5 and 5 star rating. On 10, it is 9.5/10. It's that great. I have to write review later on. Must read again later in year.

:cwink: oh and one day I will get your autograph on my book copy of Mathion.

In this thread/poll, I just voted a 9/10. Cause I couldn't decide if I should round up 9.5 to a 10 in poll or go to 9. So I did 4.5+4.5=9. 9.

Wow, thanks Madness! I'm really glad you enjoyed it, but very surprised you enjoyed it THAT MUCH haha :awesome: put the review on both Amazon & Smashwords if you like, the more the merrier

And I hope you get a book copy one day soon...:woot:

It will be on Smashwords later tonight or earlier tomorrow morning. Then I'll post it on Amazon. Just a quick question...

Amazon.com I see has 379 page version. Smashwords has 415. I mention in my current draft of the review (I probably edit it a bit as I type it up), that um...I read a longer version at 415. So when I post it at Amazon, I'll leave that in there, but probably will say on Smashwords 'I read the version on here, but see Amazon has a shorter version'.

I also mention in the draft that I see this as a difficult film to be made. Theaters would probably be 2 and a half hour long and maybe R, but probably strong PG-13. :o I say this a bit tongue in cheek, but maybe it will be easier to do this as a mid-high grade CGI budget film. Like in the 65-150 range. But don't take this all sad...Lord of the Rings got made. Percy Jackson got a movie and now another one on way...I need to rent that one..Greek Gods...oh yeah...Narnia got 3 movies. I'm sure this one will get made. Just needs to come out in bookstores, it will do great, and you'll be rich and have a movie made. Maybe it get made in a studio in front of green screens to save money, I dunno. Like I said earlier, don't sell to FOX, they will **** it up :o. They made Narnia 3 less than 2 hours long and it tanked here. And all they do is **** up it seems. Eragon is a example. Never seen it, but read it's different from book.

They're both the same book, I'm just not sure how the conversions work out (I think they average the word count itself into a page count, but it also may have something to do with what size text you read the book in) but I see no need to keep that in there either way.

As far as a potential movie adaptation would go? I have always seen it as a very easy transition from book to film. I know which parts would need to be trimmed and which scenes to cut, but I agree it'd be about two and a half hours. And if Hunger Games can pull off PG13, MATHION can too :woot:

And I'd NEVER sell the rights to Fox! :cmad: they're just not a good studio to trust with this kind of material. Warner Bros. is where it's at

Ah okay, I'll take that part out when I'm typing it up!

What about um...Lionsgate? They got a new lease on life with Hunger Games. Literally...they got approve for a new loan or something like that I read thanks to Hunger Games kicking ass. And since they took over Summit and basically folded Summit into them...they got the last Twilight film. Actually...I dunno. Seems like Summit is alive? Maybe it's like New Line now? Just a division. IE, New Line is just a division of Warner Bro.

WB can get me Nolan :cwink: I dream big

Oh, and I finished the cover art for the Revised & Expanded Edition!! I think you all will like it, and I MAY give the Hype! the first exclusive look.

Check out enterthemadness's review of MATHION on Smashwords!!

UPDATE: Full text of the review below:

Mathion: Book One of the Mavonduri Trilogy is written by Jeff Shanley and it's his debut novel. It is a modern masterpiece. It starts off slow, yet each page is better than the last. After the first big battle, Mathion mostly goes at a fast and entertaining ride. Mathion features many characters from good to evil, but mostly good. In a nutshell the plot of Mathion is Wolven and Men vs Werewolves. An evil and all powerful King Werewolf named Azgharath threatens the realm of the Wolven.

I won't spoil anything major in this review. The world Mr. Shanley has created is wonderful. It's all described in excellent detail. The pros are that it's entertaining, has good action, good characters, a strong finish, and it's fun to read. Lots of battles. Its small cons are that the time period is not that clear. It does take place very long ago though, that is made clear. This is nitpicky, but I feel it would be better as a book, not a e-book. Although that can be contributed by my short attention span since reading this book on PC and iPhone, meant internet was on my mind. This book isn't for everyone, but neither were the Harry Potter and Twilight books, which I've never read. I have read the Narnia series long ago, and Mathion is on par with that. Another thing is that there are 'time jumps' which take getting use to. However, this is because the Wolven and Werewolves have much longer lifespans.

Mathion screams movie to me. I can see it becoming one later on down the road. That road includes it going from e-book to book in bookstores and online stores. And hopefully the other parts of Mathion being published as well. In my opinion, Mathon as a movie seems like 2 and a half hours long in theaters and a strong PG-13.

I've never seen a book or movie cast Werewolves in such a light. They are still violent creatures, but have much more to them that that. Just cool.

In conclusion. Read this book. This is easily a story that is far better than an indie e-book treatment.

Hey ETM, I just wanted to clarify one point in your review: This story takes place in roughly 10500 BC. This entire trilogy is a retelling of the Atlantis and werewolf myths, so if Atlantis sunk in 9600 BC, well...I'm sure you can take it from there :cwink:

Finally got the original thread title back. Sorry if I mislead anyone, I've been both busy and lazy lately :o

Huh, that long ago. Everyone seems to have nice weapons for that time period. When I was thinking of the weapons and such, I thought of medieval times during Europe. :cwink: of course with Atlantis sinking, all of that could have gone with it.

For all those following, I will be starting a somewhat mini viral campaign for the Revised & Expanded Edition release. Tag #66Oharel at the end of your tweets along with #Mathion. I'm hoping to get this trending, so help a fellow Hype!ster out?
