I've been hearing complaints from other non zelda gamers about how they don't care about mario, or zelda. now hearing someone that theyre not interested in a game like zelda really surprised me. what do you guys think Nintendo can do to broaden the game's appeal?

btw we know that almost all zelda games have been produced my miyamoto himself, but do you think it would be disrepectful if a zelda game was developed by retor studios? i think they've earned it.

In my opinion the games dveloped by EAD are the ones in cannon. The ones developed by Philips are definetly not in and the ones made by Flagship just make the timeline confusing. It should stay that way.

And people that hate on the Legend of Zelda are just Nintendo haturs that think Nintendo is kiddie.

Why broaden the appeal? Not every game is gonna appeal to everyone. That's like saying 'make the Godfather more general'. You do tha, and you lose tons more. Take out the violence to appeal to others... okay, so now it sucks, but you've gained 10 more fans.

So to quote Axid: 'Not a damn thing.'

They don't need to broaden its appeal, but a little more marketing would help. Not just on G4 (everyone who watches that already knows about the game, especially in the case of TP), but on Fox during primetime or SNL, maybe.

Broaden the games appeal? Dude, you realize its impossible to improve perfection? Right?

I think that Zelda appeals to so many people that we don't need to worry about broadening the appeal.

Hey guys, news on the new Zelda game (Not TP).

The Legend of Zelda: Glock of Destiny.

Young Link grows up in a ghetto. However, the evil ganglord Ganon starts pimpin' Link's hoes and selling drugs in his hood. Take control of Link as you gather homies and prepare for the ultimate showdown in Ganon's nightclub/casino.

Will Link save his hood? You decide.

lol

Why?

This is INARGUABLY the BEST video game franchise, ever. You cannot improve upon perfection. Even the "weakest" entries are above 9.5 according to most people. It can be dark, light, tragic, comical.....it has it ALL. Do we need to add more bloods and a FPS average with online multi-player to shoot your friends....or complete strangers with?

No. Leave Zelda alone. They haven't ****ed up a game yet and if anyone *****es about OOT or is "disappointed" with what we've seen of TP so far....they obviously will hate whatever Nintendo does and screw them for missing out then.

I couldn't care less if some people don't like Zelda.
Leave like it is, which is almost perfect.

Lets see, hmm...

NOT A DAMN THING!

Truer words have not been spoken. So many people identify Nintendo with that one stupid decision to modify the original Mortal Kombat to tone down the blood and guts. To many people mistake great gameplay for kiddieness, sure they still rely on the old franchises of Mario, Zelda and Metroid, but each one of those games also has perfect gameplay. Give me a game the plays incredibly well without blood and guts over a blood and guts filled crapfest anyday.

They need to make the text scroll faster. Dear god, feels like an eternity just to get through one conversation. Also, it's the year 2006, add some ****ing voice overs. Metroid is doing it. Mario did it. They can also make the openings alot more exciting. All the Zeldas I've played, you spend about 45 minutes running around a town, doing pointless chores and talking to people before anything exciting happens.

Starting with Wind Waker you can skip what they're saying. And they don't use voice acting because most voice acting is bad and while getting some voice acting that is good is not impossible, the flavor of Zelda is you read the story how you want to be andi t is like reading an "epic tale." It makes it easier to identify with it if you hear a voice you like (or your voice) as Link who doesn't speak and decide what the other characters are saying or how they say it. Like reading a book in some respects, which is what it's trying.

You now can skip through lame diologue but it benefits from no real voice acting other than grunts, moans, screams ando ther noises that can be mistaken for sexual sounds when taken out of context. ;)

I think we should ask "What can they NOT do" and just talk about Windwaker.

The Wind Waker was awesome. :o

The cell-shaded fit the mood and the style of the game.

The story was great.

The music was great.

The game presented the best Link vs. Ganon battle EVER in a Legend of Zelda game.

....almost a page down and no asshat has suggested that it needs blood?

I'm amazed.

Wind Waker was a great game. No, not as good as OOT and the dungeons and boss fights were a little too easy for my tastes (particularly after how challenging they were in Majora's Mask) but it was a beautiful game (I prefer realistic graphics for the franchise, but for crying out loud it is a beautiful game and is okay when it is anime but not video games?!) and very well made. On top of that it has one of the best Zelda stories in a Zelda game (probably second only to OOT), characters developed a lot more and a terrfic score.

What is so bad? Kiddie graphics. Grow the **** up. It was easily one of the best games of last generation (which is a rare something to say about a Gamecube exclusive, the only others that earn that prestege from Gamecube are Super Smash Bros. Melee, the Metroid games and the original and superior version of Resident Evil 4). I can't grasp why people can't look past the graphical change and see what is a really good game.

With that said I am very happy they went back to the more realistic depiction of Hyrule for Twilight Princess though.

Wow, blood. That is doing to do SO much for the franchise

Blood is stupid. It's one of the reasons I hated God of War. Every time you hit an enemey in that game, they lose half their blood supply. It's just so stupid. That whole game is overrated.

You better be kidding :o

And Ocarina of Time had blood in it

You summed up every feeling I have about the Wind Waker
